Police have shared a major new update after multiple people including children were injured and two reported killed at a Taylor Swift dance party.

A teenage boy remains in police custody tonight after at nine people were injured in a knife attack close to a Taylor Swift-themed yoga class. In a press conference held at 6.30pm, Merseyside Police confirmed six children are now in a critical condition with two adults also critically injured. North West Ambulance Service treated 11 people at the scene.

Officers said earlier that the stabbings are not being treated as terror-related, and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. The force confirmed that a 17-year-old boy, from the village of Banks, was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

The teenager, originally from Cardiff, is set to be questioned following the “major incident” at a property in Hart Street, Southport, north of Liverpool, at about 11.50am on Monday.

Of the adults who were critically injured, Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy said it is the force’s belief thay they were “bravely trying to protect the children who were being attacked”. Chief Constable Serena Kennedy said children were attending a Taylor Swift event at a dance school when the offender, armed with a knife, walked inside the premises and started to attack the children. She added: “We believe that the adults who were injured were bravely trying to protect the children who were being attacked. As a mum and a nana, I can’t begin to imagine the pain and suffering that the families of the victims are going through.”

The injured were taken to local hospitals, including Alder Hey children’s hospital in Liverpool, where a major incident has been declared. Eyewitnesses at the scene described seeing bleeding children running from the Hart Space, a community hub that offers classes for expectant mothers, babies and children. A Taylor Swift-themed dance party had been taking place there at the time. One local shopkeeper said: “They had been stabbed here, here, here, everywhere,” he said, pointing to the neck, back and chest. “They were all aged about 10. One of them was really seriously injured.”

Police will use live facial recognition technology in Cardiff during the Beyoncé concert on Wednesday, despite concerns about racial bias and human rights.

The technology will be used in Cardiff city centre, but not at the stadium, to “support” the artist’s concert at the Principality stadium by identifying wanted individuals and ensuring safeguarding, South Wales police said, as the artist kicks off the UK leg of her first solo headline tour in seven years.

A spokesperson for the force said the technology would be used in the city centre, not at the concert itself. In the past, police use of live facial recognition (LFR) in England and Wales had been limited to special operations such as football matches or the coronation, when there was a crackdown on protesters.

Daragh Murray, a senior lecturer of law at Queen Mary University in London, said the normalisation of invasive surveillance capability at events such as a concert was concerning, and was taking place without any real public debate.

“I find it very hard to believe that it could be useful at a concert, or at a rugby match,” said Murray, who has studied the Metropolitan police’s use of LFR. “But given the really significant interference with human rights, I think it’s up to the police to provide a really compelling argument as to why it’s necessary.”

With live facial recognition technology, it is typically a standalone deployment where, using cameras, police scan passersby to match biometrics against those held on a watchlist.

South Wales police last used the technology for the FIM Speedway Grand Prix held at the same stadium in August 2022. The event, which scanned 20,929 people against a watchlist of 245 images, produced no alerts, actions or arrests, according to the force.

Murray said the technology had dangerous effects on modifying behaviour and, in turn, democratic processes such as protests or political opposition.

“I think things like live facial recognition are the first step, but I think they’re opening the doors to the use of permanent facial recognition across city-wide surveillance camera networks,” he said.

A woman was arrested in Wales after standing up for women’s rights and telling a biological male that he should not be in a women’s washroom.

Kate, 54, said that she had gone for a drink at Heidi’s Bier Bar in Cardiff, Wales, with a friend on Sunday night after attending a feminist conference when she came across a man dressed as a “drag queen” in the women’s washroom. She was later accused of “transphobia” and arrested in the wee hours of Monday morning after telling the man that he should leave.

“I said, ‘you’re a man, you shouldn’t be in here,’” Kate said in an interview with REDDUX.

“So, tonight I got arrested by the police,” Kate tweeted Monday, according to screenshots released by REDDUX. “I was in a toilet and a man was there. I said you’re a man and you shouldn’t be here. He lied and said I threatened him. I got arrested. This is 2022.”

According to REDDUX, Kate said that she was the only person in the washroom who thought there was something wrong, and that other women in the room began to harass her.

“When I was down there, there was absolutely no one supporting me,” she said.

Yeah, that was to be expected.

Women hate each other, and they especially hate anyone who opposes the formal authority figures.

Kate also told REDDUX that before she had even left the washroom, the bar staff approached her, accusing her of transphobia and saying she had threatened the man.

“The man was a lot larger than me, so I don’t know why I would do that,” Kate said. “I just said ‘a man shouldn’t be in the women’s toilets.’ I wouldn’t threaten him.”

REDDUX says Kate recorded the incident but that she does not wish to release it to the public for privacy reasons. However, REDDUX did provide a transcript of the conversation.

Kate: You came in and asked me to leave the venue because a man was in the women’s toilets.

Bar Staff: Oh? You mean the transgender woman?

Kate: A man.

Bar Staff: A transgender woman.

Kate: A man was in the toilets.

Bar Staff: It was a transgender woman.

Kate: A man. You know it’s a man!

Bar Staff: They are a transgender woman. You need to respect their pronouns and the fact that they have decided to alter their gender. You have tried to attack a transgender woman, that is a hate crime. You have just recorded yourself admitting to a hate crime.

During the conflict, Kate also revealed the fact she is a sexual assault survivor and that she does not want to share a washroom with a man.

Kate: I will leave the venue, but I will record you. I am telling you right now that I have lived in Cardiff for 40 years, and I have never experienced people like you harassing me in women’s toilets.

Bar Staff: So, you have harassed a transgender woman?

Kate: No, it was a man.

Bar Staff: It was a transgender woman.

Kate: It was a man. A man in the women’s toilets and that makes me really uncomfortable. I am a sexual assault survivor and –

Bar Staff: So am I.

Kate: – I do not consent to men being in the women’s toilets.

Bar Staff: So, there wasn’t a male in the toilet, it was a transgender woman.

After the incident, police arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. and promptly arrested Kate after the biological male and his friends accused her of threats and of being on cocaine.

“I am a 54-year-old woman with two adult children,” Kate said. “It’s Sunday night. I was not on cocaine. It’s so ludicrous.”

“They could have tested me, or given me a drug test — they didn’t,” she added. “They searched me and took all of my belongings. I had no drugs. I only had a bar of soap in my pocket because I had been gifted soap.”

Kate said that although the police asked that she apologize, she refused and was finally taken home after a few hours. Although she went into the station on Monday searching for answers as to why she was arrested in the first place, she was told that she was arrested for a suspected public order offense but was de-arrested because the “victim” did not want to press charges.

The authorities in the US want to start doing this here.

A group of lesbian women were removed by law enforcement during a Pride march in Cardiff, Wales for “causing confrontation” after they were verbally attacked by trans activists. The organization, Get the L Out UK, opposes the addition of transgenderism to the LGB category, and carried banners which read “lesbians don’t like penises,” and “trans activism erases lesbians.”

Videos uploaded to Get the L Out’s Twitter account depict an exchange between Get the L Out organizer Angela Wild and a police officer.

“I want to make sure I understand. You are removing lesbians from an LGBT march. Is that what you’re doing?” Wild asked the officer.

“Yes, that is what’s happening. For your safety, and for other people’s safety,” he replied. “At the moment, your march is causing confrontation between different groups of people.”

In the background, a man wearing a dress can be seen rushing towards Liane Timmermann, activist and lead campaigner with the organization, while shouting insults.

Speaking to Reduxx on what happened, Get the L Out demonstrator Angela Wild says police formed a line between them and the other Pride marchers immediately.

“We were initially told by the police that we had to move, but we told them we had the right to march where we were. They then told us they could escort us, but only if we marched at the back. We said ‘no, we’re at the front, and we intend to march where we are.’”

Wild says that while the police initially told them they were allowed to march at the front, the decision was quickly rescinded, and the lesbian demonstrators were once again told they either needed to shift to the back of the march, or they would be removed entirely.

“They told us we were going to be removed for our own safety, to which we asked why they wouldn’t do anything about the trans activists who were harassing us. They didn’t respond. We were then threatened with being physically removed from the march.”

Wild noted that verbal abuse was being hurled at them, with one particularly hostile trans activist telling them that “lesbians can fuck off,” but police did nothing to stop the hostility that was aimed at Wild and her group.

“We did this action to highlight the way lesbians are treated within the LGBT community, and in Pride marches as well, where we cannot state that we do not like to have sexual relationships with men, even if the men identify as or call themselves lesbians,” Wild told Reduxx.

“It’s an issue that no one seems to want to talk about. One of our banners said ‘cotton ceiling is rape’ and another banner that said ‘lesbians don’t like penises.’ They don’t seem like controversial statements but that’s what got us all the harassment,” she added.

The ‘cotton ceiling’ refers to a term coined by porn star and trans activist Drew DeVeaux in 2015. It is inspired by the concept of the “glass ceiling,” which is used to describe discrimination women face in the workplace that prevents them for reaching upper management levels. The “cotton” refers to the material of a women’s underwear, and frames a lesbian’s refusal to have sexual relations with males as a form of discrimination.

Wild also says their participation in the Pride march was intended to provide opposition to plans the Welsh government has to introduce LGBT-oriented policy in an effort to become the most “LGBT friendly state in the world.” Wild stated she had concerns the policies were going to disproportionately impact women and lesbians as similar policies have in other parts of the world.

In a past interview with Women’s Declaration International, Timmermann explained that Get the L Out focuses on direct actions and research, and that the group was formed “because we realized that transgenderism is a threat to women, but more specifically to lesbians.”

“We see transgenderism as posting two main dangers for lesbians: the cotton ceiling and the trans’ing of young non-conforming girls and women, most of whom are lesbians,” Timmermann explained.

On Twitter, feminists and lesbian allies expressed outrage at the footage uploaded by Get the L Out UK, with many pointing out the irony in removing lesbians from a pride parade for not wanting to engage in heterosexual relations.

“Pride was set up to protest against the homophobia directed at people because of their sexual orientation not for heterosexuals. Yet there we have it – same sex attracted women being harassed by heterosexuals,” Twitter user Davina Day wrote.

Many also took issue with the police claiming the lesbians’ removal was for “their safety,” when the threat itself was not being addressed.

“And ‘for your own protection.’ How about removing the men who were threatening them? Or maybe the law doesn’t apply when you identity as trans?” User Jonathan Hartley asked.

Pride Cymru released a statement following footage of the lesbians’ removal going viral on social media. In the short post, they suggested Get the L Out had “interrupted the march” and proclaimed “trans rights are human rights.”

They’re literally telling lesbians that they have to have penis-in-vagina sex with trannies, which is kind of the funniest thing ever, actually.

Growing up, there were several millennials I knew with “lesbian mothers.” It’s like, if they’re lesbians, then how did they have kids? (This was before the artificial insemination thing was big.) The answer was: “they didn’t realize they were lesbians until the divorce.” How convenient.

Offensive images have been displayed on a Cardiff city centre billboard, prompting a police investigation.

Swastikas and far-right images were displayed on the Queen Street screen on Tuesday night after a hacker gained control and selected what was shown.

Writing in an anonymous online post, the hacker claimed there was a security vulnerability with the screens.

BlowUP media, which controls the billboard, has been contacted for comment.

South Wales Police said they had received a number of calls relating to the incident.

Good luck finding a random guy who exploited a security vulnerability – presumably the old “no password” loophole – and hacked a billboard. He probably doesn’t even live in that country.

Reyaad Khan, 21, from Cardiff, has died just six years after he met former shadow chancellor Ed Balls and said wanted to become the first Asian Prime Minister, according to reports on social media.South Wales Police today confirmed it had seen claims on Twitter that Khan, a straight A pupil, was killed in a drone strike on the ISIS stronghold of Raqqa on the tenth anniversary of 7/7.

In a statement the force said: ‘South Wales Police cannot confirm or corroborate reports on social media highlighting the injury or death of Reyaad Khan, who has travelled to Syria.’

The Foreign Office told MailOnline it is unable to confirm Khan’s death due to the difficulty of getting information out of Syria.

Khan, who went by the nom de guerre Abu Dujana Britani, had previously boasted of being prepared to be a martyr and claimed he was planning ‘fireworks’, meaning to become a suicide bomber.

Like many British jihadis, Khan was a frequent Twitter user with multiple posts daily, but his last tweet came on July 6 – the day before he was reportedly killed.

It comes after a number of Islamic State supporters claimed he had died on Twitter.

The family of a woman who was murdered by her boyfriend after a 999 delay have been told they cannot sue two police forces for negligence.

Joanna Michael, 25, from St Mellons, Cardiff, rang 999 twice before Cyron Williams stabbed her to death in 2009.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) ruled she was failed by South Wales and Gwent Police.

The Supreme Court said Ms Michael’s family would not be able to proceed with claims against the two forces.

Ms Michael’s parents and children won the right to try to bring a claim for damages against both police forces in 2011, but it was thrown out by the Court of Appeal because police officers have immunity from negligence claims.

The family had hoped the Supreme Court would overrule the ruling, but were left disappointed on Wednesday when the justices sitting decided by a 5-2 majority to dismiss the family’s appeal.

Speaking on the steps of the court Ms Michael’s mother Angela said: “I have lost a wonderful daughter. The children have lost a loving mother and provider.

“I brought this case to secure damages for the children and also to make the police answerable for their failures to deal effectively with serious domestic violence cases.”

The family of a young mother who was stabbed to death after the 999 emergency system failed her are seeking a landmark ruling over the right to claim damages for police negligence.

Joanna Michael, 25, made two desperate calls to the emergency service before being murdered by her ex-boyfriend Cyron Williams, 19, in August 2009.

But ‘individual and systemic failures’ by the police meant the emergency services arrived too late to save her life, the Supreme Court was told.

Ms Michael, from St Mellons, Cardiff, was heard screaming during her second call to police before the line went dead.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has already ruled Ms Michael was failed by both the Gwet and South Wales police as well as the 999 system.

The commission said officers should have been able to respond to her call within five minutes. By the time they arrived at her home 22 minutes later she was dead, having been stabbed 72 times.

The highest court in the land is hearing a challenge by Ms Michael’s family against a Court of Appeal ruling in 2012 that the police have an ‘immunity’ from being sued for negligence under the common law for the actions of officers during ‘the investigation or suppression of crime’.

At the same time, the chief constables of South Wales and Gwent Police are cross-appealing against the appeal judges’ linked ruling that the family should be allowed to go ahead with a claim that their Article 2 rights under the European Convention on Human Rights were breached by a police failure to protect Ms Michael’s life.

Nicholas Bowen QC, appearing for Ms Michael’s family, said the case was ‘desperately important’, particularly with regard to cases of domestic violence.

He told seven Supreme Court justices: ‘There is a need for a heightened accountability of the police in the light of recent scandals and investigations which have had a very serious detrimental affect on public and political confidence in police services.’

Mr Bowen said the family’s claim was ‘not just about money’ but also a ‘determination to find out really and truly what happened’.

Williams attacked Ms Michael, whose children were home at the time, after breaking into her house ‘in a mad fit of jealous rage’ after discovering she was in a new relationship just weeks after they had broken up.

The court heard that Ms Michael made her first 999 call on a mobile phone at 2.29am and told the Gwent Police operator that Williams had come to the house and found her with someone else.

He had bitten her ear hard and taken the other man away in his car – saying he would return to kill her.

A bogus bride and groom have been jailed after rounding up guests for their sham wedding – from a local bus stop.

Uzoma Onwuha, 30, and Robert Horvath, 35 exchanged vows at Cardiff register office, in front of strangers they’d met on the way to their ceremony in Cardiff, Wales.

But Nigeria-born Onwuha had paid Horvath £1,000 to marry her so that she could get the necessary paperwork to stay in Britain.

Staff at the register office soon became suspicious because the ‘couple’ couldn’t give basic details about each other.

Later, a police investigation showed that one guest revealed that he was invited after the pair found him at a bus stop nearby.

Cardiff Crown court heard that as soon as their big day was over the newlyweds went their separate ways.

Onwuha caught a bus back to her home in London alone where she was arrested.

Meanwhile, Horvath was seized in a raid on his home in Newport, South Wales, where he was found living with another woman.

Prosecutor Jeremy Jenkins said: ‘There were only six guests at the wedding.

A trainee surgeon has been struck off the medical register after he was found to have transformed a hospital ward into his own secret porn studio, a hearing has heard.

Suheil Ahmed, 28, took more than 100 photographs of women while carrying out intimate examinations of women at Torbay Hospital in Devon.

He sectioned off their beds from the rest of the ward, before touching his victims as he removed their clothing to allow himself a better view.

During the intimate examinations Ahmed told his victims, who were all in their 20s, that he was using a mobile phone to time their breathing or heart rate.

He also installed a secret camera in a house owned by his family to film students using the toilet.

Ahmed was suspended by Torbay Hospital after two women complained about their examinations, sparking a probe into his conduct.

A police investigation found 110 images of patients uploaded to his home personal computer along with footage from a secret camera installed in a property belonging to his family.

He initially denied any wrongdoing, claiming he had taken the pictures for his medical portfolio.

But Ahmed, who lived in Cardiff, admitted 11 counts of voyeurism and two counts of sexual assault by touching when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.

He was jailed for 18 months last October later increased to 30 months after the Court of Appeal found the sentence was ‘unduly lenient’.
