The wildfires raging across Southern California have destroyed nearly 200 artworks by Hunter Biden, son of outgoing US President Joe Biden, the New York Post (NYP) reported on Wednesday, citing an unnamed source close to the Biden family.

The paintings, valued at “millions of dollars,” were reportedly being kept in storage near the home of Biden’s attorney Kevin Morris in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood that suffered the most severe damage from the disaster.

The tabloid noted that the “controversial” art pieces have been priced as high as $500,000 each, but emphasized that Berges said that the average price was closer to $85,000.

The wildfires that erupted in the region last week have caused widespread devastation, claiming at least 25 lives. The flames have laid bare more than 40,000 acres. Over 12,000 buildings have been destroyed, while entire neighborhoods were left literally in ashes. According to a preliminary assessment, the material damage inflicted by the disastrous fires could cost as much as $275 billion.

Last week, the Daily Mail reported that the Malibu-based house of the outgoing president’s son had been completely destroyed by the sweeping fires. At the same time, the US president said that his son had received a notification that the house was “probably burned to the ground,” but added that it appeared that it was still standing.

Hunter Biden is one of the greatest artists of our time, and it is a true tragedy to imagine hundreds of his works being lost.

However, what we can hope is that the works were not actually lost, and Hunter is instead being clever and committing insurance fraud.

The clash came amid concerns of a looting spree after owners who had been forced to abandon their homes as the flames spread later returned to find the contents had been burgled.

About 30 people have been arrested, most of them for suspected looting, since the fires threatened to engulf several Los Angeles neighbourhoods. One man was found at a fire-damaged home dressed as a firefighter and arrested. Two men were detained on Saturday outside the Los Angeles home of Kamala Harris – the vice-president whom Trump defeated in November to return to the White House – but were later released after no evidence of a burglary was found.

Newsom’s exchange with Musk was triggered by a user who posted a television interview in which the governor said there would be “zero tolerance for looters”.

Above the footage, the user wrote: “LOOTING: Newsom and California Democrats literally decriminalized looting, barring police from arresting looters and prosecutors from prosecuting them. Now he’s opposed to looting.”

Musk, who has been prominent in Republican criticism of the Democrat response to the fires, reposted the message with a clown emoji and a globe.

From my analysis of the laws, it is definitely illegal to loot.

Prop 47 effectively legalized theft of anything worth less than $950 (while it was technically still illegal to steal, there was no real punishment), but a lot of that was redacted last year in response to the behavior of the blacks. (People no longer think black people menacing society is cute and adorable.)

From what I can see, looting is more likely to be charged as a misdemeanor than as a felony.

I don’t think it’s legal, however, in the way that retail theft had become de facto legal.

Stealing from people’s homes has typically always been a bigger offense than stealing from a store.

If California is sending their supplies to the Ukraine, that is not the Ukraine’s fault.

If deployed, Ukrainian firefighters would join those sent by Canada and Mexico, who have already converged on the Los Angeles area to help fire departments from around the state, even as Trump has threatened to levy tariffs against both countries.

A California man whose two cats died after drinking raw milk recalled for bird flu risk says he meant to keep his beloved pets healthy, but his efforts tragically backfired.

“It’s horrible when you realize that you’re the one that actually gave them the milk that killed them,” said Joseph Journell, 56, of San Bernardino.

Journell lost his 14-year-old tabby, Alexander, and Tuxsie, a 4-year-old tuxedo cat, in late November. A third cat, 4-year-old Big Boy, was hospitalized for a week before tests showed the animal was infected with the H5N1 bird flu virus.

The cats drank unpasteurized milk from lots recalled by Raw Farm, of Fresno, whose dairy products were pulled from California store shelves in December after health officials found the virus in milk for sale, he said. The animals’ deaths were confirmed by state and county health officials. The cats were kept indoors, with no access to potentially infected birds, and ate conventional, not raw, pet food, the owner said.

Journell said he had been drinking Raw Farm milk himself for several months because he heard it had “better immunity and healing properties” than pasteurized milk. He thought it might be able to help Alexander, who had been losing weight.

“I was trying to make him healthier and make him live longer,” Journell said.

Instead, Alexander died on Thanksgiving Day. Tuxsie followed two days later.

Big Boy was hospitalized and treated with antiviral medications, Journell said. The veterinary team collected urine samples from the cat, which were confirmed positive for H5N1 at labs run by the U.S. Agriculture Department and Cornell University, records show.

Big Boy returned home blind and without the use of his back legs, though he is recovering, Journell said. A fourth cat, Cleo, didn’t drink the milk and remained healthy.

Journell has demanded that Raw Farm owner Mark McAfee compensate him for the more than $12,000 he spent treating the cats, according Seattle food safety lawyer Ilana Korchia, who is representing him.

The scenes out of LA are apocalyptic.

The media has reported that gays in LA are responsible, though has not been officially confirmed.

LA Times:

Officials said Thursday that at least 10 people were killed and more than 9,000 homes, businesses and other buildings appeared to have been damaged or destroyed in the Palisades and Eaton fires.

Around 5,300 of these structures were destroyed in the Palisades fire, while another 4,000 to 5,000 structures were estimated to be damaged or destroyed in the Eaton fire burning in the Altadena area.

Officials made the estimate using aerial infrared technology and stressed that it was a preliminary number. If accurate, it would place the firestorm among the worst in Los Angeles history in terms of property damage.

“The Palisades fire is one of the most destructive natural disasters in the history of Los Angeles,” said Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley.

At a morning news conference, L.A. County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said growth of the Eaton fire had been “significantly stopped.” At 3:30 p.m., however, he announced that the fire had grown by more than 3,000 acres — to 13,690 acres — as it spread toward the historic Mt. Wilson area with 0% containment.

Don Fregulia, an operations section chief with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, said efforts to protect Mt. Wilson had proved successful and he expected that to remain the case.

“We’re actively engaged there,” Fregulia said. “We’re feeling good about what we have to do up there tonight to keep that site secure.”

The Palisades fire grew from around 17,200 acres Thursday morning to 19,978 acres Thursday evening, at which time the blaze was 6% contained, according to fire officials.

And on Thursday afternoon a new blaze, dubbed the Kenneth fire, ignited in Woodland Hills and quickly spread to around 1,000 acres.

A lot of right-wingers are blaming “woke” for these fires.

While I think that is extreme, as no fire department would be able to stop fires this big with any efficiency and I think the issue has to do with forest management policies, it is notable that the people in charge are all lesbian women.

Regardless, the basic reality is that if you don’t manage the forests, if you don’t prune the trees and remove the fallen trees and limbs and the leaves and crap, natural forest fires will start and they cannot be contained.

The forest is designed to burn regularly. That is what forests do. If you want to prevent massive fires, you can’t just put out small fires and do nothing else, as this allows the conditions for fires to build and build until you get these huge ones.

If you want to do “naturalism,” then you can’t put out the small fires. You have to just let those burn and run their course.

But proper forest management techniques are more than 100 years old, and it is inexplicable that California cannot implement these techniques.

These people are already in our country.

There are over 100 million of them.

It’s something we’re going to have to talk about at some point.

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) Journalism Professor Jesus Ayala recently celebrated the fact that the students enrolled in his fall 2024 journalism course were “100% students of color.”

The university featured a December article on Ayala’s work and shared his comments about his Journalism 482 course.

“100% of the students enrolled in JOUR 482 in fall 2024 are students of color,” Ayala is quoted as saying. “In order to diversify TV newsrooms, we need to diversify newsroom pipelines. This is what makes [Beach TV News] special.”

The university’s official LinkedIn account also shared Ayala’s quote and a link to the article with its nearly 300,000 followers.

The broadcast program is intended to boost diversity in the newsroom pipeline as news media “becoming less diverse,” according to the university.

Ayala, who has won multiple Emmy Awards, is “one of the most distinguished and decorated broadcast journalism professors in the country,” according to his university biography.

“Prof. Ayala teaches courses in both English and Spanish and specializes in broadcast journalism, field producing, multimedia production, international reporting and reporting about race and ethnicity,” the web page reads. “In 2008, he covered Barack Obama’s historic presidential campaign as a white house [sic] pool producer.”

Just getting rid of California altogether, sealing it off and letting them fend for themselves, would be a step in the right direction.

These fires continue to get worse and worse.

U.S. private forecaster AccuWeather said on Wednesday that estimated damage and economic loss from the California wildfire, already one of the worst in history, is over $50 billion at a preliminary level.

Raging wildfires in Los Angeles killed at least two people, destroyed hundreds of buildings and stretched firefighting resources and water supplies since they began on Tuesday, with fierce winds hindering firefighting operations and fueling the fires.

AccuWeather, which estimates the loss between $52 billion and $57 billion, added that if the fire spread to densely populated neighborhoods the current estimates for loss would have to be revised upward.

It’s bad and it’s getting worse

“Should a large number of additional structures be burned in the coming days, it may become the worst wildfire in modern California history based on the number of structures burned and economic loss,” AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Jonathan Porter said.

Property consultant CoreLogic estimates that there are over 456,000 homes, with nearly $300 billion in reconstruction value, at moderate or greater risk within the Los Angeles and Riverside metropolitan areas.

However, this number represents the areas at risk in general and not linked to the ongoing fire event.

There is a lot of information that should be shared about these fires.

Firstly, they were caused by gay people.

Also, forest fires happen naturally, so if you are going to unnaturally prevent them, you have to remove the debris (fallen trees, leaves) from the forest and crop it. You can’t just leave it natural while putting out small fires that start, otherwise you’re going to end up with a big fire that you can’t possibly ever put out.
