A Cook County, Illinois, judge has been reassigned and faces a state disciplinary investigation after allegedly sharing a racist meme in a text message.

Injustice Watch reported on Friday that Judge Caroline Glennon-Goodman, a judge in the Cook County Circuit Court’s pretrial division, sent an image of a Black child and a Black child’s leg wearing an electronic monitor. Text included with the image reads “My First Ankle Monitor.”

Glennon-Goodman also sent a text saying, “My husband’s idea of Christmas humor,” according to a screenshot obtained by Injustice Watch.

Cook County Circuit Court Chief Judge Timothy Evans issued an order temporarily reassigning Glennon-Goodman “to promote public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary” after meeting with the court’s executive committee Friday.

Glennon-Goodman will receive implicit bias training and be referred to the state’s Judicial Inquiry Board to “determine whether further sanction is warranted,” the order also states.

The Cook County Bar Association, the area’s largest professional association of Black lawyers, condemned the judge’s actions in a statement provided to Injustice Watch.

“It is our understanding that the photo was meant to be shared with a different audience, and that the judge involved has apologized profusely as a result,” the statement said. “Nevertheless, such media is inappropriate to share regardless of the intended audience.”

The bar association added: “Discernment and judgment are of utmost importance for the qualifications of a judge. Any judge should be unbiased enough to not further circulate such a racist trope.”

Husna Ibrahim Arbab had already lost her son in the early days of Sudan’s civil war – burned to death in his tent after it was set on fire – when she was apprehended by militia aligned with the Rapid Support Forces paramilitary group while fleeing west towards the border with Chad.

A bullet flew by close to her head, the 24-year-old said. Five male relatives were separated from the group she was travelling with, taken to a creek, and shot in the chest.

“If you are black, you are finished,” is how Arbab described her experience of the ethnically targeted violence that has swept through Darfur for the second time this century.

Accounts of massacres perpetrated by the RSF and allied Arab militias emerged shortly after war broke out in April 2023 between the RSF and the regular army, the Sudanese Armed Forces, and its allied groups. Much of what the outside world has learned about the atrocities has been relayed by survivors from refugee camps in Adré, across the border in Chad.

Speaking in Adré, Arbab said that sometimes members of her Bargo ethnic group were spared violence, and sometimes they weren’t. “The militia tested us [darker skinned people] on our language,” she said. “If you could speak Bargo then sometimes you were let go. If you couldn’t, you were killed.”

The US said on Tuesday it had determined that genocide was being perpetrated by the RSF and its allies and that it was imposing sanctions on the RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo – known as Hemedti.

The RSF and the SAF have been accused of committing war crimes during the war, which has claimed tens of thousands of lives. The US secretary of state, Antony Blinken, said in a statement that “both belligerents bear responsibility for the violence and suffering in Sudan and lack the legitimacy to govern a future peaceful Sudan”. However, Blinken said the RSF and its allies were responsible for a pattern of systematic ethnic violence in which civilians were killed as they tried to flee fighting and access to essential supplies was blocked.

In 2004, the US had declared that the RSF’s forerunner – the notorious Janjaweed militias – had committed genocide in Darfur in the early 2000s. Then, as now, the violence was directed against darker-skinned, non-Arab groups.

Some of the most serious allegations relating to the RSF have once again focused on Darfur, where up to 15,000 people died in well-documented attacks on the city of Geneina in 2023 that targeted the non-Arab Masalit and other ethnic groups.

Naima Mugadam, another member of the Bargo group, told the Guardian in Adré that two of her brothers had been killed because of their ethnicity in Geneina. The men who killed her brothers also beat her up, she said, leaving her unable to move for three days. “Telling them that I was not a Masalit did not protect me from being attacked,” she said. “I was beaten and humiliated, and lucky not to be raped.”

A disturbing video from Beaumont, Texas, shows a police officer being thrown from a moving car while trying to arrest a woman early Friday morning.

Video footage from the scene shows the officer was chasing 28-year-old Jamaysha Butler, who fled into a convertible in a parking lot on Phelan Boulevard. As the officer jumped into the back seat to stop her, Butler sped off, causing him to fall head-first onto the pavement.

As the injured officer lay unconscious on the ground, a group of young bystanders responded with laughter and cheers. The lack of concern for the officer’s condition has drawn widespread condemnation on social media.

In a Facebook post, Beaumont Police detailed the sequence of events, stating that the incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. at Little Woodrow’s parking lot on Phelan Boulevard. “During the confrontation, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, causing the officer to sustain a serious head injury,” the statement read.

Police also revealed that both Butler and Bell have previous criminal records, further highlighting their history of run-ins with the law.

Police later arrested Butler, charging her with Intoxication Assault and Evading Detention, both involving serious injury to a peace officer. Another woman, 22-year-old Melissa Bell, was also taken into custody. Bell allegedly kicked the officer while he was being escorted to a patrol car. She faces charges including public intoxication, resisting arrest, and assault on a peace officer.

A teacher at Beverly Hills High School has come forward, alleging that her reports of racism on campus since 2022 have been ignored. Now, Bella Ivory is taking legal action with the help of attorney Brad Gage.

“When a school allows racism to flourish, children learn the wrong thing, and that breeds hatred,” said Gage, who highlighted several incidents as evidence of the toxic environment at the school.

The flipside of that is that some people think that it is the behavior of niggers that breeds hatred.

But there are different views on the issue of hatred-breeding.

One video shows a student filming feces on the floor of a bathroom before zooming in on a racist comment scrawled on the wall. Another disturbing clip features two female students mocking Black students in the school cafeteria. “Let’s take a minute to appreciate how nice, beautiful, and clean our cafeteria looks right now. Now let’s fast-forward to lunch,” one of the girls says. The video then cuts to Black students eating in the cafeteria. The girls reappear to comment, “This is disgusting… I’m repulsed.”

It was pretty obvious to me Daniel Penny was not going to be convicted of “manslaughter.”

Woke has cooled down a lot. Presumably, that’s because some kind of super-advanced computer models determined that whatever is left of civil society would collapse if it was pushed any further, and people would start lynching Jews.

If Derek Chauvin was on trial this week, he might have gotten off, and it’s likely that case will be appealed successfully.

Penny is young and handsome, a former marine, he fits into the supposed American ethos of the lone hero taking matters into his own hands. But what he did was much closer to a crime than what Chauvin did (not that what Penny did was illegal, but charging him with manslaughter was less obscene than charging a cop with murder and saying he should have just let the criminal go).

The judge in Daniel Penny’s subway chokehold death trial agreed on Friday to dismiss the manslaughter charge against him, leaving jurors only to consider the lesser count of criminally negligent homicide.

Judge Maxwell Wiley’s decision stemmed from prosecutors’ request to dismiss Penny’s second-degree manslaughter charge after jurors deadlocked twice on that count. Jurors were not able to consider the criminally negligent homicide count until reaching a verdict on second-degree manslaughter.

By agreeing to dismiss this top charge, jurors will be able to continue deliberating the case. Wiley has instructed them to return to court on Monday, according to CNN.

“Judge Wiley is letting the DA withdraw the manslaughter charge. He’ll let the jury consider just criminally negligent homicide now. That’s big for precedent. That also means Penny is now off the hook for manslaughter, though,” Courthouse News reporter Erik Uebelacker said on X.

Penny had been tried on second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in the death of Jordan Neely, whom Penny held in a chokehold for about six minutes on a New York City subway car in 2023.

Criminally negligent homicide involves engaging in serious “blameworthy conduct” while not perceiving such a risk. Manslaughter, meanwhile, requires proving that a defendant recklessly caused another person’s death.

Penny’s lawyers say he was protecting himself and other subway riders from a volatile, mentally ill man who was making alarming remarks and gestures. Prosecutors say Penny reacted far too forcefully to someone he perceived as a peril, not a person.

Letting a jury refuse to agree on one charge and then the DA being allowed to keep the other is not usually how these things work. It’s probably a new precedent, as generally this would be a mistrial.

The judge is trying to let the jury convict him on the negligent homicide.

Of course, the maximum penalty for that is four years, whereas he was facing 15 on the manslaughter charge. Chauvin got 20 years.

The prosecutor in the case is literally an Israeli lesbian literally named “Dafna Yoran.” As you’d expect, and is only proper, she looks like a caricature from Der Sturmer.

Black male students were more likely than their white and female peers to say a woman is “not capable” of being president, according to a new survey.

Intelligent.com asked 600 students ages 18 to 24 for their level of agreement with the statement, “A woman is not capable of performing the duties of the president of the U.S.”

“Conservative students were the most likely to agree, with 31% selecting strongly agree or somewhat agree,” the survey group reported. “In comparison, 17% of moderate students and 11% of liberal students agreed with the statement.”

“Male students were more likely than female students to hold this belief, with 23% agreeing compared to 13% of women,” the group also stated. “Additionally, 23% of Black students and 16% of white students agreed with the statement.”

Intelligent.com told The College Fix that nearly 4 in 10 black male students agreed with the statement.

These numbers are harrowing:

• Black women (n=63): 10% agreed with the statement

Tunisian anti-terrorist investigators are handling the case of a leading advocate for migrants who has been taken into custody, in what the head of a rights group said was a troubling first for the country.

Abdallah Said, a Tunisian of Chadian origin, was questioned along with the secretary general and treasurer of his association, Enfants de la Lune, said Romdhane Ben Amor, the spokesperson for the Tunisian Forum for Social and Economic Rights.

According to La Presse newspaper, which is close to the Tunisian government, Said’s association is suspected of receiving foreign funds “to assist sub-Saharan migrants to enter illegally on to Tunisian soil”. Tunisia is one of the main launching points for boats carrying people trying to cross the Mediterranean to seek better lives in Europe.

In May the Tunisian president, Kais Saied, lashed out at organisations that defended the rights of migrants, calling their leaders “traitors and mercenaries”. Saied, who has overseen a sweeping crackdown on undocumented black people living in Tunisia, won a second term as president last month in a vote with turnout of just 28.8%.

A Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema) supervisor has been fired for telling staff helping hurricane survivors to skip houses displaying signs supporting Donald Trump.

The agency’s head, Deanne Criswell, described the supervisor’s actions as “reprehensible”, saying Fema takes its mission “to help everyone before, during and after disasters seriously”.

Although Criswell’s statement on X does not indicate when or where the incident took place, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said the Division of Emergency Management would be launching an investigation at his direction.

DeSantis called the situation “targeted discrimination” of Trump supporters in Florida.

Fema staff have been in Florida helping residents recover from Hurricane Milton last month, and needed to survey damage to homes to assess who qualified to apply for federal aid.

The Daily Wire reported on Friday that Fema staff had been checking on homes in Lake Placid when they were ordered to skip properties that had yard signs supporting the Republican candidate.

“Trump sign no entry per leadership,” said internal messages in a government system, reports the Daily Wire.

“When we got there we were told to discriminate against people,” a whistleblower told the outlet. “It’s almost unbelievable to think that somebody in the federal government would think that’s okay.”

This is really ridiculous.
