Waterbury police have arrested a suspect accused in a fatal crash that happened on April 22.

On Wednesday morning, police arrested 26-year-old Jamall Smith.

He was wanted in connection with a deadly crash that happened on April 22 on East Main Street.

According to police, a BMW driven by Smith was traveling west on East Main Street when it crossed over the yellow line and hit a Honda traveling the opposite direction.

Smith was brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There were no passengers in his car.

The driver of the Honda, identified as 20-year-old Jada Manning, was brought to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The passenger of the Honda, 20-year-old Dominique Dalessio, was brought to the hospital and died from her injuries on April 28.

Waterbury Police have applied for an arrest warrant for Smith, charging him with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs/alcohol, failure to drive in the proper lane, and second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle.

It’s amazing how much devastation one drunk jiggaboo can cause when he’s behind the wheel.

A Louisville man has been charged with murder after police said he drove drunk, causing a crash that killed one man and seriously injured four other people, including three children.

The crash took place around 11 p.m. Tuesday on Millers Lane, just west of Dixie Highway, according to court documents. Police said Jermaine Sneed, 36, was intoxicated while driving eastbound at a high rate of speed and crashed into a van driven by Danny Whitfill, according to an arrest warrant.

Whitfill died at the scene, according to police, who said both cars were engulfed in flames by the time officers arrived.

“It was a horrific scene,” said Lt. Col. Josh Myers, assistant chief of police for the Shively Police Department. “There were neighbors who had pulled some of the injured folks from the cars.

“The flames were high enough to where they were actually reaching the transformer on a telephone pole,” he added.

A woman and two children in the van with Whitfill were badly injured in the crash. The woman was taken to University Hospital in critical condition. The two children were taken to Norton Children’s Hospital. One of them suffered a broken leg. The second child was in critical condition. Their current conditions are not known.

A Cleveland woman faces felony charges after reportedly hitting four people and two dogs on three different days in Westlake.

Police say they were first called on April 4 to a home on Caroline Circle for a 22-year-old woman who was hit by a car while she was walking to the mailbox. Police say the victim lost consciousness for a time, but was later able to walk home and call for help, and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The second incident happened on April 7 when police were called to Cahoon Road for two people who suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car while walking their dog. This happened on the sidewalk near White Oaks Restaurant.

The woman who called 911 said she and her friend ran into a nearby apartment complex because it looked like the vehicle was “coming back.” She told the dispatcher she was bleeding from her head and that her back hurt as she was walking to the officer who came to the scene.

While on scene, police were able to get a description of the vehicle and spotted it in the area of Dover and Dominon. Authorities questioned 24-year-old Shayla Harris, who had visible damage to her car, and later arrested her. Harris stated the damage was done to her car after she hit a deer.

While in custody, Harris also apparently admitted to hitting a fourth person, a 52-year-old Westlake resident who was walking his dog in Bay Village on April 1.

Allowing 17-year-old sheboons to drive is objectively insane.

Jayona Brown, the teenager charged in a deadly crash that killed a Metro police officer, is now facing charges in the adult court system.

She faces several charges, including vehicular homicide, in the death of 28-year-old Officer John Anderson. Metro police say she was booked into jail Monday night.

Anderson was killed in an early-morning fiery crash on the Fourth of July. At the time of the crash, Brown was 17 years old. She has since turned 18.

A transfer hearing for Brown was held in early February. During the hearing, the teen told Judge Sheila Calloway, “I’ll do everything in my power to keep me out of trouble. I want to go to school. I want to go to college… I want to get close to my family. My intention is not to get into any more trouble.”

Judge Calloway signed the order to transfer Brown into the adult system on March 23. Her bond was set at $100,000.

One of the jurors didn’t want to put a brutha in jail.

A Brooklyn man who ran over and killed an art curator in 2015 while she was out shopping for holiday presents will serve no time behind bars in exchange for pleading guilty, a judge said Wednesday.

Marlon Sewell, 43, copped to a manslaughter charge and admitted to being behind the wheel of a defective vehicle when he struck and killed Victoria Nicodemus on Dec. 9, 2015 while she was walking with her boyfriend on a Fort Greene sidewalk.

In a hearing before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Evelyn Laporte, Sewell answered with a soft “yes” when asked by Assistant District Attorney Rene Plattner if a defect in his Chevy Suburban caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

Laporte said that Sewell will receive a sentence of five years probation as a condition of his plea deal.

Sewell could have been sentenced up to 15 years behind bars for the second-degree manslaughter charge.

Sewell previously stood trial on charges of second-degree manslaughter and negligent homicide in 2017.

But Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Vincent Del Giudice declared a mistrial after it was revealed that a juror overheard one of her colleagues remark that she would “not send a black man to jail.”

The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office did not end up retrying Sewell and ultimately did not push for jail time.

More white lives ruined because at some point in time someone in power said “you know those people who never invented the wheel? I think it’s about time we let them behind the wheel.”

A local college is dealing with the tragic death of a student as 37-year-old Kevin Mroczko was killed early Sunday morning when a drunk driver hit his motorcycle on US-401 near Byrd Road.

Mroczko was a military veteran and a student at Methodist University.

Curtis Harris of Benson is charged in Mroczko’s death. The charge list includes felony death by motor vehicle, two felony counts of hit and run, and four misdemeanors including a DWI.

Troopers say it was dark and foggy early Sunday morning when Harris ran into the back of Mroczko’s Harley Davidson, throwing him and his fiancée Stephanie Warn off the bike. Mroczko died instantly. Warn was flown to UNC where troopers say she is in a coma.

Mroczko’s death sent shockwaves of grief through the nursing school where he just started in August after transitioning out of the military where he deployed several times.

Dr. Shannon Matthews was devastated when she got the news but said the students are taking the loss even harder.

“I mean they were so close. They were in classes all day together so they eat lunch together. They had lab together twice a week. They knew each other very well so this had been devastating,” Matthews said.

She appears to have been burned alive.

That’s the sort of thing that really should only happen to mudsharks.

A man who went out for drinks on his 25th birthday allegedly crashed into a rear of another vehicle, sending it flying off I-57 and onto railroad tracks below, killing the driver, Cook County prosecutors say.

Tevin Washington is charged with reckless homicide and driving under the influence in the Feb. 28 crash near south suburban Calumet Park, according to a bond proffer prepared by prosecutors.

The victim of the crash was 39-year-old Stephanie Anselmo, according to published reports. She leaves behind a husband and son, according to an online fundraising page.

Washington was allegedly driving 85 mph in a 55 mph zone when he changed lanes and struck a woman’s Jeep from behind between 127th Street and Sibley Boulevard, according to Illinois State Police and prosecutors.

The Jeep burst into flames and went through a concrete barrier, landing below on Metra tracks, authorities said. She died at the scene.

An autopsy found she suffered a broken femur, broken pelvic bone and thermal internal damage from heat, prosecutors said.

Washington allegedly walked away, prosecutors said. He returned about 20 minutes later and was arrested.

Washington allegedly failed a field sobriety test and blew a 0.123 blood-alcohol content in a Breathalyzer test, prosecutors said.

He spent the evening drinking at Darrin’s Lounge on the South Side, prosecutors said.

Officers found a label of a Patron bottle and an empty container of cannabis flower, prosecutors said.

Cook County Judge David Navarro ordered Washington held on a $150,000 bail, according to court records.

The officer deserved the fracture for trying to apprehend the black.

You only apprehend someone if you think he’s committed a crime – and what kind of racist would ever think a black committed a crime?

A hit-and-run driver who left a police officer with a fractured skull has been jailed for seven years.

PC Chris Burnham, 48, spent a week in an induced coma after suffering head injuries in Coventry on 25 September.

Tekle Lennox, 37, admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent to resist arrest.

At Warwick Crown Court, Judge Peter Cooke ordered Lennox to serve a five-year driving ban following his release from prison.

Lennox, of no fixed address, was already serving a three-year driving ban at the time of the crash in Holbrook Lane.

Lennox’s Mini was filmed by a passing motorist’s dashcam as it struck PC Burnham, knocked him on to its windscreen and carried him on the bonnet for almost three seconds, before throwing him into the road.

The court heard PC Burnham was attempting to apprehend Lennox after he failed to pull over.

Lennox had only a third of a second to react, the court heard, after PC Burnham emerged on foot from behind a van – but he then failed to brake and later increased his speed.

Passing sentence Judge Cooke accepted no driver would have had sufficient time to avoid the collision.

Anyone want to guess why he was driving so recklessly?

An 89-year-old woman who was a passenger in a vehicle that was hit by a suspect fleeing police in Ferndale has died, police say.

Mary Lackamp died from her injuries on Feb. 17 after she was involved in a vehicle crash on Valentine’s Day. Lackamp was in a car with two other people when an SUV driven by Harris Howard crashed into the car in the area of Eight Mile Road and Wyoming.

“I can’t believe suddenly all that exuberance is gone,” said Mary Hrit, Lackamp’s longtime neighbor.

Lackamp is described as a compassionate woman who put the needs of others before her own.

“I was adopted at 10 weeks. She was here for my adoption,” said Bill Frank. “One of the nicest people you could ever meet.”

Lackamp retired from U of D Jesuit High School in Detroit.

“It’s really senseless,” said Edward Kent, a graduate of U of D Jesuit. “It really takes a chunk out of your heart.”

Lackamp and the other two passengers were initially listed in temporary serious but stable condition at a local hospital following the crash.

Howard, who fled the scene after the crash but was later captured by Michigan State Police and arrested, is charged with second-degree fleeing and eluding.

Police have arrest a suspect in connection to a fatal hit-and-run crash in Lakewood Saturday night.

Lakewood police said Thornton officers arrested Melvin Woolley, 37, on Wednesday.

Woolley is being held on suspicion of vehicular homicide, hit-and-run, vehicular eluding causing death and driving under restraint, in addition to driving without insurance and having expired and obscured license plates.

The crash happened about 7 p.m. Dec. 21 near West Colfax Avenue and Lamar Street. Police said Woolley had been pulled over by a Lakewood police officer when he fled, driving away at a high speed.

Woolley then struck a man who was walking across the street near Colfax and Benton Street, according to police. The victim, later identified by the Jefferson County coroner as 29-year-old Jonathon Furley, was taken to a hospital, where he died.
