Boise State, which twice boycotted regular-season matches with San Jose State, pulled out of the Mountain West women’s volleyball tournament Wednesday night even after securing a spot in the semifinals against the Spartans.

San Jose State, which received six forfeit victories because of boycotts from Mountain West opponents, is seeded second in the conference tournament and received a first-round bye. Now the Spartans will advance all the way to Saturday’s championship match rather than take the court Friday.

Boise State released a statement that read: “The decision to not continue to play in the 2024 Mountain West Volleyball Championship tournament was not an easy one. Our team overcame forfeitures to earn a spot in the tournament field and fought for the win over Utah State in the first round on Wednesday. They should not have to forgo this opportunity while waiting for a more thoughtful and better system that serves all athletes.”

San Jose State said it would issue a statement Thursday.

Boise State’s announcement came hours after the Broncos defeated Utah State 25-19, 18-25, 25-20, 25-23 in the quarterfinals.

Boise State didn’t commit immediately after the match to playing San Jose State. What went into its decision to withdraw from the tournament was unclear, whether it was by a team vote or more of a university decision.

The title match likely will go on as scheduled. San Jose State will play either top-seeded Colorado State or No. 5 San Diego State. Both teams played the Spartans this season rather than sit out.

Mountain West members Boise State, Wyoming, Utah State and Nevada as well as Southern Utah canceled games this season against the Spartans. Nevada’s players stated they “refuse to participate in any match that advances injustice against female athletes,” without providing further details.

Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed an executive order Aug. 28 called the Defending Women’s Sports Act that challenges how Title IX rules are interpreted in that state.

“Biological males – men and boys – have physical differences that give them an unfair advantage when competing with women and girls in athletics,” Little said at the time.

There is no scientific evidence that boys are stronger than girls.

Middle school girls who attend Hart Middle School in Rochester Community Schools are “seeing something” and “saying something” about a boy who is using their bathrooms. Now, they expect the school board to “do something.”

The school board heard from several concerned students and parents on Monday night regarding a boy who is allowed to use the girls bathroom at school.

One student spoke and said, “We have a biological boy using our bathroom and staff blocking off our bathroom [and] restricting girls from entering as this biological boy uses our bathroom.” She went on to say, “Encountering a boy in the bathroom makes me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. No girl should ever be uncomfortable because there’s a boy in the bathroom alongside of them.”

She pleaded with the board. “We need a solution that ensures the privacy and safety of all students.”

A second student took the mic afterwards and explained the moment she realized a boy was using the girls bathroom. “We felt overlooked and disrespected,” she said. “While I support transgender individuals, allowing someone to use the girls restroom can create an unsettling environment for young women like myself. It is crucial to take action to ensure sure all girls feel safe and comfortable in spaces designated for them.”

One mom, who has sent her children to Rochester Community Schools for the past 27 years, teared up when she recalled a district that used to “provide the best education for our children.”

“The issue needs to be addressed on the district level,” she said after indicating the school principal had treated her concerns with respect. She continued, “I find it shameful that adults are attempting to bully these 13 year old girls into silence and submission by accusing them of not being truthful and not taking their feelings into consideration.”

Of course, the trannies should be stopped.

It’s just nonsensical hearing that from women, people who have supported all of this stuff for decades.

And yes, I get that these particular women are teenagers and were not supporting anything for decades. I’m talking about women as a collective, which as it exists, always supports every single Jewish agenda unless it directly impacts their personal lives, because they feel good supporting things they’re told by the media are just and good.

The University of Wyoming women’s volleyball team will not face off against San José State University this weekend, becoming the third team to forfeit to the Spartans in an apparent protest over the NCAA’s rules allowing transgender women to compete in women’s sports.

The decision, which follows forfeits by Boise State University last week and Southern Utah University last month, comes amid mounting pressure from Wyoming lawmakers, including Gov. Mark Gordon, who wrote on social media platform X: “I am in full support of the decision by @wyoathletics to forego playing its volleyball match against San Jose State. It is important we stand for integrity and fairness in female athletics.”

Wyoming did not specify a reason for its forfeit, providing only a short statement.

“After a lengthy discussion, the University of Wyoming will not play its scheduled conference match against San José State University in the UniWyo Sports Complex on Saturday, Oct. 5,” the university’s statement reads. “Per Mountain West Conference policy, the Conference will record the match as a forfeit and a loss for Wyoming.”

The university declined to comment further.

In 2022, the NCAA changed its transgender student-athlete participation policy to require transgender athletes to undergo testosterone testing and meet sport-specific levels to compete in women’s divisions. The association is currently facing a lawsuit over its move to allow transgender women to compete in women’s sports, filed in Georgia, which says it aims to “remedy sex discrimination against women in college athletics.”

In a statement, SJSU spokesperson Michelle Smith McDonald confirmed that all volleyball team members comply with the NCAA and the Mountain West Conference rules and regulations.

“It is disappointing that our SJSU student-athletes… are being denied opportunities to compete,” she wrote. “We are committed to supporting our student-athletes through these challenges and in their ability to compete in an inclusive, fair, safe and respectful environment.”

“It is doubling down on a policy of discrimination and exclusion instead of fostering what we should be fostering as part of athletics, which is camaraderie and competition,” said Tom Temprano, a spokesperson for the LGBTQ+ rights organization Equality California. “Instead, we’re centering these divisive values and discriminatory actions, which I would imagine the vast, vast majority of these student-athletes are unhappy with and would be opposed to.”

The dream of transgender swimmer Lia Thomas to defeat more biological female competition was dashed after the Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected a challenge from Thomas that would have allowed the athlete to compete in elite competitions for women.

Thomas, a biological man who identifies as female, requested the Switzerland-based court repudiate the current policy that denies Thomas access to competing in “elite” women’s races, including the Olympics, according to a Wednesday report.

An arbitration panel then ruled that Thomas did not meet the standards to appeal the policy, which was established by World Aquatics, because “for the time being,” the policy does not apply to the athlete, the report noted.

Great news! Lia Thomas won’t be able to compete in women’s category at the Olympics or any other elite competition.

“[Thomas] is currently only entitled to compete in USA Swimming events that do not qualify as ‘Elite Events,’” the arbitral award stated.

Thomas became the first openly transgender athlete to win an NCAA Division I national championship in March 2022 while competing for the University of Pennsylvania.
