If the US seals itself off from China, who is going to do better in the long run?

The country who produces the things or the country who buys the things that are produced?

RT:

China has announced a ban on shipments to the US of several dual-use items and key raw materials used in semiconductor manufacturing and military applications. The move comes in response to the latest US sanctions.

On Monday, Washington unveiled restrictions on the export of a broad range of chipmaking tools and software to the Asian nation.

According to a statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) on Tuesday, the retaliatory measures have been introduced in order to safeguard national security interests and fulfill international obligations.

Under the new regulation, China will prohibit the export of dual-use items to US military users or for military purposes. It will also strictly control the export of gallium, germanium, antimony, and superhard materials, as well as graphite-related dual-use items to the US.

The listed rare metals are used in the making of computer chips and a variety of other products, such as solar panels and advanced radar equipment. China is the world’s top producer of gallium and is a leading exporter of germanium.

The US hasn’t produced any gallium since 1987 and relied on China for 21% of its imports of the material between 2019-2022, according to the US Geological Survey. Imports more than halved when compared to previous years due to higher tariffs slapped on shipments to the US by Beijing.

When “Washington” blocks shipments, they don’t just block their own shipments. They make a blanket threat to the whole world, saying no one is allowed to ship.

However, we’ve seen with Russia that these blanket threats to the world don’t really work anymore.

Toxic Chemicals Necessary for “Clean Energy” Batteries Ruining Environment and Human Health https://www.anglinarchive.com/2024/07/17/toxic-chemicals-necessary-for-clean-energy-batteries-ruining-environment-and-human-health/ Wed, 17 Jul 2024 00:00:00 +0000

Poison the earth to save the earth from weather changes that would actually be good for the earth.

I don’t believe in manmade global warming. There’s just no evidence that the amounts of CO2 we are talking about could contribute to the greenhouse effect, and there is so much evidence that the cycles of the Sun (and not the greenhouse effect) drive 99.9% of weather changes on the earth anyway.

But if you could raise the earth’s temperature by a few degrees, and make the huge swaths of frozen land in Canada and Russia arable, why would you not do that?

Sea levels wouldn’t rise significantly, and if they did, seawalls are easy to build. The Philippines (poorest non-black country in the world) builds them. They are not hard to build.

Anyway, if global warming is real, why are the rich buying up very expensive property they say will be underwater in a few years?

Poisoning the entire world with PFAS in the name of changing the weather is the most insane shit that humans have ever done. This is dumber than the Holocaust hoax.

The Guardian:

Toxic PFAS “forever chemicals” used in lithium ion batteries essential to the clean energy transition present a dangerous source of chemical pollution that new research finds threatens the environment and human health as the nascent industry scales up.

The multipronged, peer-reviewed study zeroed in on a little-researched and unregulated subclass of PFAS called bis-FASI that are used in lithium ion batteries.

Researchers found alarming levels of the chemicals in the environment near manufacturing plants, noted their presence in remote areas around the world, found they appear to be toxic to living organisms, and discovered that waste from batteries disposed of in landfills was a major pollution source.

The nation faces “two critical challenges – to minimize aquatic pollution and increase our use of clean and sustainable energy, and both are worthy causes”, said Jennifer Guelfo, a Texas Tech University researcher and study co-author.

…

The paper notes that few end-of-life standards for PFAS battery waste exist, and the vast majority ends up in municipal dumps where it can leach into waterways, accumulate locally or be transported long distances.

It looked at the presence of the chemicals in historical leachate samples and found none in those from prior to the mid-1990s, when the chemical class was commercialized.

Since very little toxicological data on bis-FASI exists, the study also checked for effects on invertebrates and zebrafish. It found effects at low exposure levels, which suggests toxicity in line with other PFAS compounds known to be dangerous.

Researchers also sampled water, soil and air around a 3M plant in Minnesota and other large facilities known to make the chemicals. The soil and water levels were concerning, Guelfo said, and detection of the chemicals in snow suggests the chemicals easily move through the atmosphere.

What is insane is that they call it “clean energy.”

It is the dirtiest shit imaginable.

If you were really worried about CO2, and you actually believed this bullshit, you would build smallish nuclear plants. We have the uranium. Burying the waste in the desert under concrete is not a big deal, environmentally. It’s not a problem. Instead, those got shut down right along with the coal plants.

No one will explain why.

Burning Cargo Ship Filled with Stupid Electric Cars Still Drifting at Sea, Burning https://www.anglinarchive.com/2023/07/28/burning-cargo-ship-filled-with-stupid-electric-cars-still-drifting-at-sea-burning/ Fri, 28 Jul 2023 00:00:00 +0000

According to local news, the ship had around 3,000 cars on board and the fire is suspected to have started in one of 25 electric vehicles.

Due to the ongoing bad press that electric vehicles are getting because they are so ridiculously destructive to the environment – in their production, their disposal, their operation, and the risk of explosion (releasing poisonous chemicals) – Elon Musk has decided to change the name of “Tesla” to “P.”

People on social media were quick to mock Elon on the social media platform “X,” asking if the “P” stood for “poop,” because “he is taking a gigantic dump on the earth with his toxic waste machines.”

Reuters:

Electric vehicles are crisscrossing the globe to reach their eager buyers, but the battery technology involved in the zero- emission automobiles is exposing under-prepared maritime shippers to the risk of hard-to-control fires, industry, insurance and emergency response officials said.

That risk has been put under the spotlight by the burning car carrier drifting off the Dutch coast. The Dutch coastguard said the fire’s cause was unknown, but Dutch broadcaster RTL released a recording in which an emergency responder is heard saying “the fire started in the battery of an electric car.”

While all logistics companies deal with the risk of EV lithium-ion batteries burning with twice the energy of a normal fire, the maritime industry hasn’t kept up with the developing technology and how it creates greater risk, maritime officials and insurers said.

Why develop risk-mitigation technology when you can just increase your insurance?

You feel me?

There were 209 ship fires reported during 2022, the highest number in a decade and 17% more than in 2021, according to a report from insurer Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) (ALVG.DE). Of that total, 13 occurred on car carriers, but how many involved EVs was not available.

The European Maritime Safety Agency said in a March report the main cargo types identified as responsible for “a large share of cargo fire accidents included … lithium-ion batteries.”

There were 3,783 new cars on board, including 498 electric battery vehicles, a spokesperson of ship chartering company “K” Line said on Friday. Initial reports had put the number of electric vehicles at just 25.

Japan’s Shoei Kisen, which owns the ship, said it was working with authorities to get control of the fire.

So, wait – the boat is still on fire at time of writing?

Is that nuts?

The water it is burning in is incapable of putting out the fire.

The cause of the fire, while still officially undetermined, has raised questions about “what blind spots there are when transporting electric cars powered by batteries – which when they catch fire can’t be extinguished with water, or even by oxygen deprivation,” said Nathan Habers, spokesperson for the Royal Association of Netherlands Shipowners (KVNR).

One hazard in lithium-ion batteries is “thermal runaway,” a rapid and unstoppable increase in temperature that leads to fires in EVs that are hard to extinguish and can spontaneously reignite.

Fire extinguishing systems on the massive ships that haul cars weren’t designed for those hotter fires, and shipping companies and regulators are scrambling to catch up, said Douglas Dillon, executive director of the Tri-state Maritime Safety Association that covers Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

What the hell are we supposed to do to dispose of all of these batteries at end of product life?

Send them into space?

Censorship activist and failed website owner Musk has always been very comfortable dumping trash into space.

He recently announced that he is going to rename space trash “H.”

He also stated that he will now be referring to exploding lithium batteries as “M.”

Electric vehicles are literally the most retarded thing ever.

Or, at least I thought this was the case before the EV guy, known as “Shitty Dickface Homo McBansalot,” literally renamed Twitter “X.”

New York Post:

A fire blazed on a ship off the Dutch coast with nearly 3,000 vehicles on board on Wednesday, killing one member of the crew and injuring several others, the coastguard said.

The fire began on Tuesday night on the 199-metre Panama-registered Fremantle Highway, which was en route from Germany to Egypt, forcing several crew members to jump overboard. Dutch broadcaster NOS said all the crew were Indian.

Rescue ships sprayed water onto the burning boat to cool it down, but using too much water risked its sinking, the Dutch coastguard said. A salvage vessel was hooked on to stop it drifting.

The fire might last for several days, Dutch news agency ANP reported, citing the coastguard. Smoke continued to billow from the vessel near the northern Dutch island of Ameland.

“The fire is most definitely still not controlled. It’s a very hard fire to extinguish, possibly because of the cargo the ship was transporting,” said Edwin Versteeg, a spokesperson for the Dutch Department of Waterways and Public Works.

The coastguard said on its website that the cause of the fire was unknown, but a coastguard spokesperson had earlier told Reuters it began near an electric car. Roughly 25 out 2,857 vehicles on the ship were electric.

The International Maritime Organisation, which sets out regulation for safety at sea, plans to evaluate new measures for ships transporting electric vehicles next year in light of the growing number of fires on cargo ships, a spokesperson said.

rofl

You can’t even transport these cars; they just blow up.

Imagine driving one and knowing that at some point it is going to blow up and you’ll be burned alive.

Imagine buying one of the top ten recognizable brands on earth so you could rename it “X.”

He should have renamed it “F.”

I think we can seriously work with calling Elon “Sir Bansalot.”

Do you get it?

Think about it, buddy, while you’re looking at these photos of that fat homo’s dumb fake car blowing the bitch out.

“Bansalot” is like “Lancelot.”

I love me some Lancelot.

I would write a Walter Scott style story about Elon being a brave hero who bans everyone while talking constantly about free speech and also sends poor African children down into mines to create poisonous exploding cars.
