The WNBA phenom was named Time’s Athlete of the Year after putting women’s basketball and women’s sports on the map.

After she entered the league, there were several comments made about her being White.

WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson said Clark being White was a “huge thing” when it came to Clark’s popularity. Angel Reese even said there had been “a lot of racism” from Iowa and Indiana Fever fans. Connecticut Sun player DiJonai Carrington, who poked Clark in the eye during a Connecticut playoff win over the Fever, previously criticized Clark for not doing more to call out racism.

In her discussion with Time, Clark seemed to agree with Wilson to an extent.

“I want to say I’ve earned every single thing, but as a White person, there is privilege,” Clark told Time. “A lot of those players in the league that have been really good have been Black players. This league has kind of been built on them.

Bitch, the only “privilege” you have is that you can play basketball like a 12-year-old boy instead of a 10-year-old one like most of the other players.

And your league was not built by its players at all, it was built by NBA subsidies.

“The more we can appreciate that, highlight that, talk about that and then continue to have brands and companies invest in those players that have made this league incredible, I think it’s very important. I have to continue to try to change that. The more we can elevate Black women, that’s going to be a beautiful thing.”

In June, Clark said she was unbothered by people using her name to push narratives.

Classes were canceled Wednesday at the University of Mobile after one of its basketball players collapsed and died on campus.

Kaiden Francis, 18, a 6-foot-2 freshman guard from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, collapsed Tuesday morning. He was found unresponsive shortly after he finished his weekly skills workout with the university’s coaching staff and trainers, said Kathy Dean, a spokesperson for the private, Christian-based university located in Mobile.

“Despite the quick and heroic efforts of students and medical professionals, Kaiden never recovered and passed away,” University of Mobile President Dr. Charles Smith said in a statement. “Our hearts are heavy as we process this tragedy.”

A cause of death has not been released. Dean said Francis recently passed “a battery of health screenings, including heart and lung evaluations.”

“None of these tests indicated health concerns,” she said. “Out of respect for the family, we have no plans to comment further at this time.”

A chaotic scene marred what had been an exciting basketball game between Texas A&M Commerce and Incarnate Word.

Punches were thrown and a wild brawl broke out after Texas A&M Commerce defeated Incarnate Word 76-72 in overtime on Monday night.

The fisticuffs appeared to break out during the handshake line when the game was over.

It’s unclear what sparked the fight, which lasted roughly two minutes as the coaches for both teams attempted to gain control of the situation.

Several Incarnate World players looked as though they had started to make their way to the locker room when they bolted back toward the bench area as the scene began to unfold.

Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojević died Wednesday morning after suffering a heart attack, according to the team. He was 46.

Milojević was hired by the Warriors in 2021 and was in his third season as part of head coach Steve Kerr’s coaching staff.

The Warriors said Milojević suffered the heart attack at a private team dinner on Tuesday night in Salt Lake City. He was then transported to a local hospital but passed away Wednesday “despite life-saving efforts,” according to the team.

“We are absolutely devastated by Dejan’s sudden passing,” said Kerr in a statement.

“This is a shocking and tragic blow for everyone associated with the Warriors and an incredibly difficult time for his family, friends, and all of us who had the incredible pleasure to work with him.

Three refs at a Colorado youth basketball game threw punches and tackled each other in the middle of a court surrounded by horrified onlookers, shocking video shows.

The brawl broke out during the fourth quarter of a fourth-grade boys’ game between Cherry Creek and Legend Blue on Saturday morning at the Gold Crown Field House in Lakewood, according to a clip of the live-streamed game posted online.

Two of the refs walk toward each other aggressively as one of them takes a swing before a third runs over and tackles one of the pair to the ground — all within a few feet of young players, the footage shows.

“Oh my goodness,” a man off-camera exclaims as a young player about to receive a pass backs off the court and covers his mouth in shock.

Two men in plain clothes run onto the court to break it up. One holds a ref back as the two other refs wrestle on the floor.

The pair on the floor get up and square off with each holding their fists up before more bystanders — it’s unclear if they are parents or coaches — step in to stop the fighting, according to the clip.

A fourth ref, who was not involved in the brawl, also tries to amend the peace.

A woman behind the scorekeeping table can also be seen in the clip jogging over to one team of kids to shield them from the violent scene.

It’s so funny to imagine that there are people on earth who see this and think “well, people of any race could have done that.” As if two Chinamen would do this, let alone whites.

Historically, the lede would have said “Three negro refs…”, because it was obviously considered fundamental to the news story, given that if whites did this, it would be a major national news event. And I mean that outside of the anti-white bias of the current media. I mean that before the 1960s, negroes were always identified in news stories, in large part to make it clear that whatever behavior was being described had not been committed by white men, because in many cases, the news story would be much more intriguing if it had been white men.

In this case, if three white refs had gotten in a physical fight at a 4th grade game, I’d be looking up all kinds of details about it. The guys would probably give interviews, explaining their grievances, and it would be a whole big thing, where you’d want to know more about the men and what was going on, probably expecting to find that it was a long running feud, maybe that someone had slept with someone else’s wife or something.

Because it’s black people, the response is just “yeah… [sigh].”

A Texas high school basketball player attacked his coach in a parking lot after he was benched for unsportsmanlike conduct during a game earlier that night.

Jevin Allen, 17, and his brother Jarrick Allen, 22, who also allegedly participated in the beating, were arrested Dec. 5 for the assault that left the coach with injuries to his head, neck, face and arms, authorities said.

The coach, who was not identified by name, told the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office that Jevin was benched during the away game “due to his behavior toward an opposing team player” — a disciplinary action that “infuriated” the teen and his family.

Upon returning to their school, Willis High School in Conroe, Tx. at around 9:52 p.m. after the game, the coach found the teen and his family were waiting for him in the parking lot, authorities said.

The relatives confronted the coach, and the fight escalated when Jevin allegedly punched him in the face, the sheriff’s office said.

His brother immediately joined in, with the two pummeling the victim until another coach and several bystanders stepped in to break up the fracas, authorities said.

Che Flores is the NBA’s first out nonbinary and transgender referee, making that revelation in a story published by GQ on Monday.

Flores, who uses the pronoun they, is entering their second season as an NBA staff referee, after working 35 games last season. They also worked 12 games as a nonstaff official during the 2021-22 season.

“One piece I was missing for myself was that no one knew how I identified,” Flores told GQ. “Being misgendered as she/her always just felt like a little jab in the gut.”

“I can go through the world and even my job a lot more comfortably,” they added.

Some NBA executives have known how Flores identifies for several months. Many of Flores’ colleagues learned when they revealed it at preseason meetings last month.

An adult male was treated and taken to the hospital, according the spokesperson, who declined to disclose the patient’s identity or details about the medical emergency.

Basketball Australia has told the transgender athlete Lexi Rodgers she is ineligible to play elite level basketball this season.

Rodgers had been hoping to play for the Kilsyth Cobras in the the NBL1 South women’s semi-professional basketball league that sits below the professional NBL and WNBL leagues, and is made up of North, South, East, West and Central conferences.

To assess Rodgers’ case BA convened an expert panel led by Dr Peter Harcourt (BA chief medical officer, Commonwealth Games medical advisor), Suzy Batkovic OLY (BA board member, three-time Olympian) and Assoc Prof Diana Robinson.

BA said in a statement they assess eligibility of prospective elite-level transgender athletes “on a ‘case-by-case’ basis, accounting for and balancing a range of factors”, without specifying those factors.

“We’re still on a path of education and understanding,” the governing body acknowledged. “The balance of inclusivity, fairness and the competitive nature of sport will always be a complex area to navigate, and we thank those involved who have maintained integrity and respect throughout the process.”

Basketball Australia’s director, Suzy Batkovic, said: “I’d like to acknowledge and sincerely thank Lexi for her cooperation, understanding and patience throughout this process – it’s a complex space that continues to evolve.

“While Lexi is understandably disappointed with the outcome, I know she’ll continue to support her NBL1 South team throughout the season and be an active member of the basketball community.

In informing Rodgers and the Kilsyth Cobras of the decision, Batkovic added: “I also want to make it clear, because it’s important, that while this particular application was not approved based on criteria for elite competition, Basketball Australia encourages and promotes inclusivity at community level.”

Rodgers was a talented junior player but has previously acknowledged that transitioning might preclude her from playing the sport at the highest level, including her ultimate dream of representing the Opals.

In response to BA’s decision, Rodgers expressed her disappointment with the ruling and the message it projects.

“I sought a different outcome from Basketball Australia,” Rodgers wrote in an Instagram post. “I participated fully and in good faith with the process and eligibility criteria. Consistent with the views expressed by so many, I firmly believe I have a place as an athlete in women’s basketball.

“Basketball is one of the great loves of my life. Like so many people who play every week across the country, the basketball court is where I feel safe, where I feel free, and where I feel I belong.

“I hope to one day be playing elite women’s basketball in the future and will continue to work on making the sport I love a place for all.”

A Vermont Christian school forfeited to the opposing team in a state championship tournament after it was revealed a transgender student was on the team’s roster.

Mid Vermont Christian School (MVCS) girls basketball team, the Eagles, were set to play against the Long Trail Mountain Lions in the fourth game of the playoffs last Tuesday before the Christian school dropped out of the game and lost its place in the tournament.

Head of School Vicky Fogg argued that it was unfair and unsafe for the high school girls to play against a biological male on the opposing team.

“We withdrew from the tournament because we believe playing against an opponent with a biological male jeopardizes the fairness of the game and the safety of our players. Allowing biological males to participate in women’s sports sets a bad precedent for the future of women’s sports in general,” Fogg wrote in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“The Eagles’ forfeit sent Long Trail to the quarterfinals Friday against No. 4 seed Arlington,” local outlet Valley News reported.

State law prohibits discrimination against student athletes because of their gender identity and says any disputes over students’ participation on sports teams that don’t match their biological gender must be considered on a case-by-case basis.

“Transgender and gender nonconforming students are to be provided the same opportunities to participate in physical education as are all other students. Generally, students should be permitted to participate in physical education and sports in accordance with the student’s gender identity. Participation in competitive athletic activities and sports will be resolved on a case-by-case basis,” the Vermont Agency of Education’s best practices reads.

The department also says transgender students should not be required to use the bathroom or locker room “that conflicts with the student’s gender identity.”

No, indeed they shouldn’t.
