A kindergarten in Austria has expelled two children after their parents expressed concerns about graphic, sexual posters that had been hung in the facility. The posters, depicting nude trans-identified males, were reportedly created to “facilitate discussions in kindergarten settings.”

The incident occurred at a corporate kindergarten and daycare in Vienna open for the children of employees of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation. After enrolling their two kids in the kindergarten, a mother and father became aware that the class had decorated a wall in the classroom with a disturbing poster. Speaking to Kronen Zeitung, the father says they first learned about the poster after his 4-year-old son reported seeing “strange pictures” on the walls.

Investigating for himself, the father went down to the kindergarten and noted a poster had been installed featuring illustrations of nude individuals accompanied by the phrase: “Bodies naked and bare, vulva, penis, breasts, butts. You decide for yourself, indeed! Bodies are cool!”

One panel on the poster appears to depict an obese male in the shower with a young boy, while another features a trans-identified male with an exposed penis and breasts. The final panel of the poster shows two nude children taking a shower with an adult.

The parents then filed a complaint with the kindergarten and requested the removal of these illustrations, noting they appeared to be inappropriate for such young children.

As a result of the complaint, the father and his wife were summoned for an initial discussion with the regional management, followed by a meeting with the kindergarten’s CEO, Thomas-Peter Gerold-Siegl. Despite having no pedagogical background, Gerold-Siegl reportedly insisted that children aged 1 through 6 required “sexual education,” something the mother objected to immediately.

Following the discussion, the kindergarten placement for both of the children were terminated, and they have since been blacklisted from any facilities operated by Kinder in Wien (Children in Vienna, or KiWi), which not only oversees the corporate kindergartens of the Austrian broadcaster but also manages 93 additional kindergartens and after-school programs throughout Vienna.

“Because we dared to voice criticism against the practices of premature sexualization,” the parents explained to Kronen Zeitung.

The poster was found to have originated from a picture book titled Bodies Are Cool by American author and illustrator Tyler Feder. The book is purportedly designed to “facilitate discussions in kindergarten settings” about body perception, and encourage children “to accept others as they are.”

The cover of the book features a trans-identified female with mastectomy scars and a beard, while the naked trans-identified man with breasts is depicted with a heart-shaped tattoo of a trans flag. Curiously, in the American edition of Bodies Are Cool, the page featuring the nude illustrations displayed in the Austrian kindergarten was completely omitted, but was exclusively available in the German edition.

In 2024, the Kinder in Wien Journal, published by Gudrun Kern and Thomas-Peter Gerold-Siegl, addressed the issue of “sexual education in kindergarten and after-school care.” In the journal, it is claimed that “children are born as sexual beings” and that a so-called “sexual identity” develops from birth.

Talks to form a coalition government led by Austria’s far-right Freedom Party (FPO) will begin on Friday, the party said on Thursday, as thousands protested in Vienna against the prospect of the country’s first FPO-led government.

The eurosceptic, Russia-friendly FPO won September’s parliamentary election with around 29% of the vote but was initially sidelined as centrist parties tried to form a ruling coalition without it. That effort failed at the weekend, and FPO leader Herbert Kickl was tasked with forming a government.

“First step: negotiations on the budget as of tomorrow,” Kickl said in a statement on Thursday evening while protesters carrying placards reading “Nazis out” and “History is repeating itself” gathered in the square that stands between the offices of the president and the chancellor.

Chancellor Karl Nehammer of the conservative People’s Party (OVP), who had led the centrist coalition talks, said on Saturday he was stepping down because they had collapsed. His successor as head of the caretaker government, Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg, is due to take over on Friday.

Various non-governmental organisations that deal with human rights, refugees and the environment called Thursday’s protest, Thursday being the day for demonstrations when the FPO was in power as a junior coalition partner – its only experience of government – most recently with the OVP in 2019.

“Our republic is at a crossroads,” the organisers said in a statement. “The threat of an extreme right-wing chancellor looms and with him an attack on democracy, human rights, judiciary, independent media and social cohesion in our country.”

More than 10,000 protesters packed tightly together on the square and streets leading into it whistled, jeered and shone their phone lights towards the chancellor’s office, chanting “Kickl out” in a peaceful atmosphere.

The OVP, which under Nehammer said it would not govern with Kickl, calling him a conspiracy theorist and a security threat, now says under interim leader Christian Stocker that it prefers to reach a coalition deal with Kickl to holding a snap election.

Support for the FPO has only increased since September, polls show, and the party now has a lead of more than 10 percentage points over the OVP.

Austria is reviewing the status of Syrian refugees who arrived less than five years ago, Chancellor Karl Nehammer said on Thursday after media reports that some had been notified by letter that they “no longer have to fear political persecution”.

Nehammer, a conservative who is trying to form a new coalition government while under fire from the far right, pounced on the fall of Bashar al-Assad on Dec. 8, saying the same day that the security situation in Syria should be reviewed so as to allow deportations there.

Since then he and his caretaker government have clarified that their initial focus will be on voluntary deportations, with those volunteering to return home being offered 1,000 euros ($1,037). Austria is also among more than a dozen European countries to suspend the processing of Syrians’ asylum claims.

“Austria … is now reviewing the eligibility for protection of Syrians who have been in the country for less than 5 years,” Nehammer said on X.

Austrian law allows the authorities to revoke a refugee’s status in some cases within five years of it being granted. Syrians are the biggest group of asylum seekers in Austria.

Nehammer’s People’s Party (OVP) has made a hard line on immigration one of its hallmarks, to the point that the far-right Freedom Party (FPO) has accused it of stealing its ideas.

The United Nations’ refugee agency said it was “clearly premature” to initiate such proceedings.

One of the major banks in Austria, Sparkasse, has canceled the bank account of the media outlet Freilich just weeks after the outlet published an investigative report on a meeting involving the German Green Party and its efforts to ban the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

Since then, the Steiermärkische Sparkasse terminated Freilich’s bank account, giving the publication four weeks’ notice.

The magazine wrote in response that the bank is not offering any reason behind the cancelation.

“There is none — even when we asked, we were not given a reason. Our ‘crime’ was apparently to practice real journalism outside the left-wing mainstream,” the publication wrote, adding: “This step is more than an unusual business decision – there is clearly a deliberate attempt to silence us. Without a bank account, we are facing an organizational catastrophe: no income, no way to pay bills or salaries, no infrastructure. But one thing is clear: we are not giving up.”

The Freilich report about the Greens’ efforts to ban the AfD was widely covered in the German media, but also by some international outlets, including Remix News.

Freilich notes the pressure is coming at a particular time when parties like the AfD and the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) are at record levels — or near record levels — of popularity.

“Because this attack is not just aimed at us, but at the entire conservative-liberal movement. In a country where the Freedom Party is the party with the most votes, the political competition is clearly trying to use all means possible to eliminate unwelcome voices. After the recent electoral successes of the FPÖ and AfD, the pressure on our like-minded community is apparently increasing,” writes the paper.

It also comes at a time when the German government is not only actively trying to ban the AfD, but the FPÖ’s leader, Herbert Kickl, is also facing criminal prosecution after his immunity was lifted.

It’s sort of ridiculous to imagine any kind of political change in Europe as long as these countries are controlled by the US.

The only possible change would be from a popular uprising, and democracy effectively makes popular uprising impossible, because no one knows who to rise up against, and every dissident voice is channeled into politics, so there is no one to rise up for either.

Jewish students in Vienna on Friday prevented the first far-right speaker of Austria’s lower house of parliament from laying a wreath in remembrance of the Nazis’ 1938 Kristallnacht pogrom, arguing he was abusing the memory of its victims.

After the eurosceptic, Russia-friendly Freedom Party (FPO) won the most seats in a parliamentary election for the first time in its history in September, the new lower house elected FPO nominee Walter Rosenkranz as its speaker two weeks ago.

Those who opposed him in parliament and the leader of the body formally representing Austria’s Jews said he was not a suitable candidate because of his continued membership of a far-right fraternity and his past praise for a Nazi prosecutor, which Rosenkranz has since said was a mistake.

Protesters including members of the Austrian Union of Jewish Students held hands to form a cordon around a Holocaust memorial in the historic centre of Vienna where Rosenkranz had been due to lay a wreath in his official capacity.They held a banner that read: “The word of those who honour Nazis is worthless”.

In a tense standoff, a protester told Rosenkranz: “We do not want you to spit in our ancestors’ faces”, to which Rosenkranz replied: “You are insulting me” as his police escort looked on.

After initially asking the protesters to make way, Rosenkranz said: “I will yield to your violence. You are forcibly preventing me from approaching.”

Since the Jewish Religious Community (IKG), the body that formally represents Austria’s Jews, has long refused to hold meetings with FPO officials, Rosenkranz did not attend a separate Kristallnacht ceremony around the same time at another Holocaust memorial.

Maybe it’s time the FPO stop trying to gain the approval of the Jews, huh?

The far-Right won the most votes in an Austrian election for the first time since World War Two on Sunday, as the Freedom Party (FPÖ) plans to “open the doors to a new era”.

Founded by a group of Nazi SS officers in the 1950s, Herbert Kickl’s party won 29.2% of the vote according to official provisional results – almost three points ahead of the conservative People’s Party (ÖVP) on 26.5%.

While the win is clear, it is not enough of a majority, and Kickl will have to form a coalition if he wants to take the country’s reins.

The party’s triumph is yet another sign of an increasingly Right-leaning Europe. Unlike in other parts of Europe, the FPO has recently been in power as a junior coalition partner.

The opposition Social Democratic party scored its worst ever result – 21% – while the liberal NEOS drew about 9%. There was a high turnout of 74.9% as Austrian voters took part in an election dominated by migration and asylum issues, as well as a the war in Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic.

In its election program, titled “Fortress Austria,” the Freedom Party calls for “remigration of uninvited foreigners,” for achieving a more “homogeneous” nation by tightly controlling borders and suspending the right to asylum via an emergency law.

The Freedom Party’s win sparked protests outside the parliament building in Vienna with demonstrators holding placards with slogans including ‘Kickl is a Nazi’.

Foaming a coalition is not going to be an easy task for Kickl with the Social Democrats, Greens and Neos have all ruling out a partnership with the far right.

Unlike the other centrist parties, the ÖVP has not ruled out cooperating with the far right in the next government, however the FPÖ would have to find a solution to the ÖVP’s refusal to have Kickl as chancellor.

But are they Nazis?

The only major nationalist party in Europe that isn’t complete garbage is Germany’s AfD, but they can’t keep from getting caught in Nazi scandals constantly, and anyway, it is illegal for them to take power in Germany.

Austrian advocacy group NOYB on Monday filed a complaint against social media platform X accusing the Elon Musk-owned company of training its artificial intelligence (AI) with users’ personal data without their consent in violation of EU privacy law.

The group led by privacy activist Max Schrems announced that it had filed General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) complaints with authorities in nine European Union authorities to ramp up pressure on the Irish data protection authority DPC.

Ireland’s Data Protection Commission, the lead EU regulator for most of the top U.S. internet firms due to the location of their EU operations in the country, has sought an order to suspend or restrict X from processing the data of users for the purposes of developing, training or refining its AI systems.

X has agreed not to train its AI systems for now using personal data collected from EU users before they had the option to withdraw their consent, an Irish court heard last week.

However, NOYB said the DPC complaint is mainly concerned with mitigation measures and a lack of cooperation by X, and does not question the legality of the data processing itself.

I don’t know what the “privacy” thing even is. Is it location data? I don’t know how that would be very helpful to an AI. But whatever it is, people are giving it to him by signing up on the site. He’s not stealing data from their computers. He’s not installing malware and hacking them.

Anyway, the main thing the AI is going to want to train on is posts, as well as conversations with the AI. And then what people like and so on.

I think the collection of location data and personal identifiers should be illegal anyway. I guess you want the site to know your language, and they need to target you with ads. Regardless, whatever data Twitter is allowed to collect, they should also be allowed to train AI on. People don’t have a right for stuff they put out there to not be used to train AI.

And listen, trust me: if any AI is a “threat,” it is not Elon Musk’s “Grok,” which is an absolute joke. If you’re worried about AI, go look at what Gates and Altman are up to.

Vandals have beheaded a sculpture featuring the Virgin Mary giving birth to Jesus that had been exhibited in the cathedral in the Austrian city of Linz and drawn criticism from some Catholics who said it was blasphemous.

The sculpture had been on view at the St. Mary Cathedral, Austria’s largest, as part of an art installation project on women’s roles, family images and gender equality, the Linz diocese said in a statement. It added that the incident, which occurred on Monday, had been reported to police.

The identity of the vandals wasn’t known. But Alexander Tschugguel, an Austrian traditionalist Catholic responsible for the so-called “Pachamama” act of vandalism during the Vatican’s 2019 Amazon synod, said in a social media post Tuesday that he had been contacted by those responsible.

Tschugguel praised the “Hero of Linz” and posted what he said was a statement from the anonymous vandal explaining the motivation. The statement implied that the person’s emails and calls to the diocese to complain about the sculpture had been ignored.

“Therefore, in view of this abominable and blasphemous caricature, urgent and decisive action was required,” the statement said, adding that the beheading was the fastest way to disfigure the sculpture so it no longer resembled Mary.

The episcopal vicar for education, art and culture in the Linz diocese, the Rev. Johann Hintermaier, condemned the beheading of the statue.

“We were aware that we were also provoking debate with this installation. If we have hurt people’s religious feelings, we are sorry, but I strongly condemn this violent act of destruction, the refusal to engage in dialog and the attack on the freedom of art,” the diocesan statement quoted him as saying.

The sculpture was on a pedestal in the middle of the room inside the cathedral, showing Mary sitting on a rock and giving birth. The diocese said it referred to the nativity scene in the cathedral, which is also known as the Mariendom.

The artist who created the “crowning” sculpture, Esther Strauss, also condemned the destruction, according to the Linz diocese statement.

“Most portraits of the Virgin Mary were made by men and have therefore often served patriarchal interests,” she said, adding that in her sculpture “Mary gets her body back.”

“Whoever removed the head from the sculpture was very brutal,” Strauss said. “For me, this violence is an expression of the fact that there are still people who question women’s right to their own bodies. We have to take a very firm stance against this.”

More than one-third of primary school children in Vienna are Muslims, representing the largest religious group among elementary schools in the Austrian capital.

The survey also shows that young Muslims are very religious and most are actively practicing members at their respective mosques. “As a result, they tend to have more derogatory attitudes toward topics such as anti-Semitism, LGBT hostility, or equality between men and women,” Exxpress writes.

The worst thing about becoming a minority in your own country is that the invaders don’t think kindly of men ejaculating in each other’s assholes.

Kenan Güngör, a social scientist and diversity expert who advises the Austrian government on integration, has called for a change in the curriculum to accommodate lessons promoting democratic values from a young age to combat teachings being taught outside the classroom.

“There are more and more people converting to Islam – they then tend to be more radical,” Güngör warned.

“Ninety percent of the children here have a migrant background, significantly more than half are Islamic,” he told Austrian news portal Heute.

He explained how some students convert to Islam to avoid being bullied by what is now a majority group within the school.

“Those who don’t get bullied want to convert to Islam. I have students here who say, ‘Gays should be killed, that’s it, period.’ Or I get a textbook that says on the back: ‘Islam will win.’ Some people also say quite openly: ‘We’ll have more children anyway. It’s just a matter of time.’”

Gays should be killed, huh?

The story of how Germans wanted to round up all the Jews and put them in camps before the US came in and “liberated” them, at which point they loved the Jews, is mind-numbing to think about.

Like, you just kill Hitler and take down the swastikas, and all of a sudden people snap out of a hypnotic daze and say “what the hell was I thinking? I love Jews.”

This is exactly how modern liberals think of any ideas that they don’t like: that they enter people’s bodies and possess them, taking away human agency. The solution is then to ban these ideas.

Four Germans were caught laying white roses in memory of Adolf Hitler at the house where the Nazi dictator was born in western Austria on the anniversary of his birth, and one gave a Hitler salute as they posed for photos, police have said.

Patrolling officers noticed the group and took them to a police station for questioning. The woman said she had not meant the salute seriously, but officers said they found a chat with the others on her mobile phone in which they shared Nazi-themed messages and pictures.

Police said they were reporting all four to prosecutors on suspicion of violating the Austrian law that bans the symbols of nazism.

In a normal society, which didn’t have these voodoo notions about “bad ideas” being able to possess people’s bodies, people visiting Hitler’s house and saluting him could not be a threat to anything. After all, if the ideas are bad and wrong, you can just dismiss anyone who believes in them as stupid or troubled.

Unless you accept this notion of ideas being able to possess people’s bodies and deny their human agency, then the only reason a government would want to suppress ideas is that those ideas are true.

The conclusion here is that Hitler was right.
