A man Anchorage police have identified as a suspect in a homicide at the Black Angus Inn has been arrested outside of Alaska nearly two months after the crime, according to police.

Brant Marshall, 40, who is known to acquaintances as “Joey Snow” and “Snowy,” is wanted on second-degree murder and manslaughter charges. He is a suspect in a Dec. 3, 2019 shooting that killed 34-year-old Grant Fowler at the inn.

Police at the time said Marshall had traveled outside of Alaska during their investigation into the shooting. He was arrested in the U.S. Virgin Islands on Jan. 28.

An updated community alert from the Anchorage Police Department said Marshall was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force. Police said he will be extradited to Alaska.

Anchorage police are seeking a person of interest in a murder that occurred on Dec. 3 at the Black Angus Inn.

On Dec. 3, the Anchorage Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the Black Angus Inn on Gambell Street around 3:15 p.m. A victim with a gunshot wound was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

He was later identified as 34-year-old Grant Fowler.

A driver who didn’t stop after her SUV struck and killed a man rollerblading on a sidewalk near downtown Anchorage in June was charged with murder Wednesday morning, and her passenger is facing a related assault charge, prosecutors said.

Adanna Francis, 19, faces charges including second-degree murder, driving under the influence and failure to render aid in the death of 40-year-old Paul Winter, who was struck on a Cordova Street sidewalk between Ninth and 10th avenues on June 5, 2018, according to police and court documents.

Francis pleaded not guilty to her charges at an initial court hearing on Thursday.

Police officers were in the area investigating a stolen vehicle when they spotted a Ford Expedition being driven recklessly southbound on Cordova Street. Police said the Expedition continued on after hitting Winter, who was declared dead at the scene.

Bystanders, including a registered nurse, tried to resuscitate Winter, but it was to no avail.

Francis was located Wednesday morning in the 200 block of Alaska Place and transported to the Anchorage jail, where her bond was set at $150,000.

An Anchorage cyclist was attacked by a teenager Monday morning while commuting to work on the popular Lanie Fleischer Chester Creek Trail, according to Anchorage police and the cyclist’s girlfriend.

Cyclist Tim Kirk, identified by his girlfriend Julie Saddoris, remained in the hospital Monday following the alleged attack.

Kirk, 43, was biking to work at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Anchorage Police Department spokesperson Anita Shell wrote in a release. He was about 80 yards west of the Goose Lake overpass, heading eastbound on the Chester Creek trail, when he came across three teenagers. One teenager was using a branch as a walking stick.

Saddoris said that the three boys stepped aside, but as Kirk passed, one of the teenagers hit him in the face with a branch approximately 5 feet long and about 2 inches in diameter.

“He didn’t think that there was any indication that they were going to do anything; it happened all of a sudden, just kind of random,” Saddoris said.

Kirk continued to ride away, then eventually lost control and went into a ditch, Saddoris said, where he got out his phone and called 911.

Passersby stopped to help him, and Kirk was then picked up by an ambulance, Saddoris said.

Saddoris said that Kirk suffered “some skull fractures, (a) broken nose, broken orbital socket,” 23 stitches to the bridge of his nose, and additional stitches under one eye.

Kirk will be held at the hospital overnight, Saddoris said, and is scheduled to have surgery in one week.

The suspects walked away from the scene after the incident into the East High School neighborhood, Shell wrote.

“The males were described as three black males all with medium skin tone complexion. The assailant is described as approximately 15 years of age, medium build with short hair. His acquaintance is described as a 17 or 18 year old, approximately 6 (feet) tall with short hair on the side and curly on top. No description is available of the third male,” Shell wrote.

The attack took place not far from where a woman was knocked unconscious and stabbed while walking along the trail in March.
