ABC15:

A Baltimore teenager was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday, more than a year after he accelerated a stolen Jeep and fatally struck a Maryland police officer in a suburban cul-de-sac.

Dawnta Harris, 17, was tried as an adult earlier this year and convicted of felony murder in the slaying of Baltimore County police Officer Amy Caprio. A judge in the suburban county that surrounds the city of Baltimore also sentenced Harris to 20 years in prison for burglary.

Caprio encountered Harris in May 2018 while responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle. Footage of Caprio’s body-worn camera played in court showed the 29-year-old officer repeatedly ordering Harris out of the car before drawing her weapon and screaming, “Stop! Stop!” Harris ducked his head and hit the gas, slamming the Jeep into her. She fired once, the bullet shattering the windshield.

Harris ditched the stolen vehicle a few blocks away. The Baltimore Sun reported area residents found Caprio bleeding with tire marks across her legs. She had broken ribs and injuries to internal organs.

WJZ-TV reported Harris did not speak during his sentencing hearing. Defense attorney Warren Brown read a letter from his client saying “I just wish I could go back and not do what I did.”

Dawnta Harris and Amy Caprio.

This is the fruit of feminism, folks: a new generation of strong and independent she-cops who believe they can survive the primate-riddled streets of places like Baboontimore, Apelanta, Gorilladelphia, Chimpcongo and Nig York.

Reality hit this she-cop particularly hard.

WBALTV:

The jury in the trial of Dawnta Harris has returned a verdict, finding him guilty of murder in the death of a Baltimore County police officer.

Harris, 17, was tried as an adult, accused of running over Baltimore County police Officer Amy Caprio in a stolen Jeep in May 2018, killing her.

The jury convicted Harris believing he participated in at least one burglary and was behind the wheel of the stolen Jeep.

Here’s how the verdict was returned Wednesday morning:

Guilty on count one, first-degree burglary

Not guilty on count two, first-degree burglary

Guilty of felony murder in death of Caprio

Not guilty of fourth-degree burglary

Guilty of theft involving the taking of the black Jeep

“I’m glad we were able to begin getting justice for Amy,” Baltimore County Assistant State’s Attorney Zarena Sita said.

…

Sentencing is set for July 23. Prosecutors said they plan to ask for a life sentence.

Dawnta Harris.

Male cops in Baltimore die all the time at the hands of these violent street coons.

Imagine how deluded a woman must be to think that she could survive this lawless urban jungle…

WBALTV:

Jury selection started Monday for a teenager accused of killing a Baltimore County police officer.

Dawnta Harris, 17, is accused of driving an SUV that ran over Baltimore County police Officer Amy Caprio in May 2018, killing her. Harris and three other co-defendants — Darrell Ward, Derrick Matthews and Eugene Genius — are charged in the killing. Harris is the first to go on trial.

Three other youths were also involved.

Harris, who was 16 at the time of the incident, has been charged as an adult. Harris is helping his defense attorneys, Warren Brown and J. Wyndal Gordon, prepare for trial by assisting them in choosing a 12-person jury out of more than 100 potential candidates.

“This day was a long time coming, and we reached the point where it was going to happen,” Gordon said.

The case against Harris started developing May 22, 2018, when Caprio, 29, responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle — a black Jeep — and a burglary in progress, police said. After seeing the vehicle, Caprio left her police car and ordered the driver to get out of the Jeep.

A court charging document indicates Harris admitted he drove at the officer. Sources told 11 News at the time of the incident that Caprio fired one shot at the Jeep before she was hit.
