A mother in Maine has filed a federal lawsuit against public school officials for coaching her 13-year-old daughter to become a boy without parental consent.

Amber Lavigne alleges in the suit that Samuel Roy, an 8th grade counselor at Great Salt Bay Community School, secretly advised her daughter on changing genders and gave her a binder to flatten her chest during a fall counseling session.

The complaint filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for Maine says the school violated Ms. Lavigne‘s constitutional rights by not informing her of a transgender support plan to treat her daughter as male on campus.

“The U.S. Supreme Court has consistently held over the past century that one of the rights protected by the Fourteenth Amendment is the right of parents to control and direct the care, custody, education, upbringing, and healthcare decisions, etc., of their children — a right the Court has characterized as fundamental,” the complaint states.

The lawsuit names Mr. Roy and other educators as defendants. It seeks to overturn the school’s policy of hiding student gender transitions from unsupportive parents and calling students by different gender pronouns on campus.

It also seeks an unspecified amount in damages to recoup the family’s costs for removing the girl from school. Ms. Lavigne said she did so after discovering the binder while cleaning her daughter’s room on Dec. 2 and confronting school officials, who refused her demand to fire Mr. Roy.

Officials at Great Salt Bay Community School, located in Damariscotta, Maine, did not respond Wednesday to a request for comment. Attempts to reach Mr. Roy were unsuccessful.

But school officials noted in public statements dated Dec. 19 and Jan. 14 — both included in court documents — that Great Bay has a legal duty to support transgender students.

Samuel Belknap, chairman of the Great Salt Bay Consolidated School District, said in the first statement that the school’s policies and procedures “comply with Maine law, which protects the rights of all students and staff, regardless of gender/gender identity, to have equal access to education, the supports and services available in our public schools, and the student’s right to privacy regardless of age.”

Transgender students guidelines that Great Bay adopted in 2019 specify that teachers must allow children to use opposite-sex pronouns, names, restrooms, clothing and locker rooms while on campus.

“To the extent that the school is not required to use a student’s legal name or gender on school records or other documents, the school should use the name and gender identified in the student’s plan,” state the guidelines, also included in court documents.

Amber Lavigne of Maine told the National Review in a report published Friday that a school counselor secretly provided a “chest binder” to her 13-year-old daughter and encouraged the child to hide the fact she was wearing the device from her parents.

Other school staff members also helped affirm the girl’s newfound male identity, allegedly calling her a male name and using male pronouns.

Lavigne is now calling for an investigation after learning a male school employee allegedly urged her daughter to wear the breast-flattening undergarment meant to help the girl appear as a male.

The mother’s attorneys argue the school advising the child on gender transitioning behind the backs of parents is unconstitutional.

“Parents aren’t going to be able to effectively ensure the safety of their kids if they’re missing out on critical information involving their kids,” said one of Lavigne’s lawyers.

The attorneys, working for Arizona’s Goldwater Group, sent a letter to the chairman of the Great Salt Bay school board demanding an investigation and requesting the board update its policies to state parents must be informed in situations like this going forward.

The Maine mother also revealed she’s “a Democrat who runs a mental-health-services business” that “has worked with transgender clients over the years.”

Lavigne’s party affiliation is relevant because the story comes in the wake of a massive political struggle surrounding the sexual transitioning of children in America.

The teen girl reportedly “started talking about a friend being pansexual, and another friend being polysexual,” when she was only 11 years old, with her mother thinking at the time, “Why are we talking sexual right now? You’re 11.”

The mother said this corruption of the minds of U.S. schoolchildren is “a social contagion.”

“I have people in my life who work in other public schools in Maine. This is happening everywhere: One day this girl is declaring she’s a boy, and a week later she’s deciding she’s not,” she told National Review.

When it comes to her daughter, Lavigne explained she’s “not allowing her to make life-altering decisions right now” and is concerned she could begin “taking testosterone” and “mutilate her body” when she turns 18.

A Maine public school social worker secretly began to socially transition a 13-year-old girl without her parent’s knowledge or consent, giving the child a chest binder in a form of “child predatory sexual grooming,” says the child’s upset mother.

At a meeting with the school board, Amber Lavigne said a Central Lincoln County School System (CLCSS) social worker, Samuel Roy, gave the chest compression garment to her daughter and told her to keep it a secret from her parents, reported the Maine Wire on Friday.

The alleged grooming incident took place at Great Salt Bay Community School in the small town of Damariscotta, where Lavigne said Roy and other school employees influenced the girl to transition to identifying as a boy, while using masculine pronouns to address her. The disgruntled mother said she knew that her daughter had been seeing a social worker at school, but the child had been reassigned to a new social worker in October without notifying her.

According to Lavigne, the chest binder — which are known to have serious medical side effects — was provided less than two weeks after her newly-13-year-old child met Roy.

“On Friday December 2, we discovered a chest binder in my barely 13-year-olds bedroom. Utilizing these devices can cause serious side-effects. After discussing this with our 13-year-old minor child, it was revealed to us that the binder was given to her by a district social worker employed at AOS Central Lincoln County Maine Schools without our permission,” Lavigne can be heard saying to the board members on footage captured from the audience.

“Our child was originally assigned to another social worker employed at her school. When the new social worker took her into their supposed care in mid-October, we were never informed of this change, nor did the newly-assigned social worker reach out to us to introduce themselves,” she continued.

Though she reported the ongoing incident when she found out about it to school administration, Lavigne said no actions were taken against Roy’s employment there.

“In my initial meeting with administrators regarding this heinous act, they expressed grave concern for a social worker at our school providing a chest binder to our 13-year-old minor child without parental consent,” Lavigne said. “To our understanding, this person was not fired, and will remain as-is at that AOS 93 Central Lincoln County School.”

She then claimed that the school refused to provide notes from the social worker meetings with either Roy, or the previous social worker.

“A social worker at the school encouraged a student to keep a secret from her parents,” the mom said. “This is the very definition of child predatory sexual grooming. Predators work to gain a victims’ trust by driving a wedge between them and their parents.”

The next speaker was Chris Coleman, a 4th grade teacher at Great Salt Bay Community School, another school in the district, according to Maine Wire.

“I’m here because members of our community, and perhaps some from afar, have decided that our transgender students do not deserve to feel safe at school,” he said, characterizing Lavigne’s grievances as bigoted

He went on to argue that the term “groomer” is offensive to fellow teachers.

Lavigne has since removed her daughter from the school system.

The plan is obviously to do this to all children in America.
