All 20 members of the Senate foreign affairs committee quit Wednesday in a bid to force out the chair, 5-Star Movement (M5S) Senator Vito Petrocelli, who is sticking to his post despite a political storm over his positions regarding the conflict in Ukraine.

Petrocelli said ahead of the mass resignation “I am not stepping down because I feel that I represent the Constitution, the will of Italians who don’t have any more parties representing them in Parliament”.

“I will honor the pledges for peace and international dialogue that I took with voters in 2018”, said Petrocelli, who has opposed the government’s package of aid, including military aid, for Ukraine after Russia invaded the country.

Petrocelli accused Premier Mario Draghi’s government, which the M5S supports, of becoming “interventionist” in the Ukraine war, saying in March that he would henceforth vote against the cabinet in all confidence votes.

Last month, M5S leader Giuseppe Conte announced Petrocelli’s expulsion from the movement after the senator posted a controversial tweet on the eve of April 25 wishing Italians “happy Liberation Day” using the capital ‘Z’ in “liberazione”, which has become a symbol of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Yeah, he’s not just anti-war, he’s pro-Russia.

The leader of Italy’s popular 5-Star Movement party has taken a leaf out of Dieudonne’s book and published a comedy version of one of the holy testimonies to the gas chambers.

Predictably, the Jews are claiming he has offended the whole of Italy, yet the party Beppe Grillo represents appear to be be more popular than any of the others over there. Although he does not appear to be a nationalist, by using the sacred holohoax for mainstream comedy value he is showing that the Jews are starting to lose their privileged victim status at last.

The flamboyant leader of Italy’s 5-Star Movement political party has published an adapted version of Primo Levi’s poem on the Holocaust and Auschwitz Se questo e’ un uomo [If this is a man] to slam president Giorgio Napolitano and premier Matteo Renzi.

The parody, ‘If this is a country’ and “inspired” by Levi’s milestone book on his incarceration at the Auschwitz concentration camp, has attracted harsh criticism of Beppe Grillo from Italy’s Jewish community.

Renzo Gattegna, president of the Union of the Italian Jewish Communities called it a “vile provocation” aimed at “tickling dishonourable anti-Semitic sentiments and ride the popular discontent that is growing in these times of crisis”.

The blog post was published with a picture of the notorious image of the gates of Auschwitz, replacing the slogan “Arbeit macht frei” (Work makes you free) with “P2 macht frei”.

P2 is the Masonic lodge that plotted to overthrow the government and was implicated in numerous Italian crimes.

“It’s impossible to stay silent over this obscenity. It’s a criminal desecration of the value of memory and the memory of millions of innocent victims that offends the whole of Italy,” said Gattegna.

The president of Rome’s Jewish community Riccardo Pacifici suggested in 2013 that Italy’s Jews should “start preparing slowly to move to Israel” because of the rise of Beppe Grillo’s 5-star Movement.

“In Germany, they say he is just like Berlusconi. But Grillo says that political parties are not important, and that is exactly what Hitler was saying before he came to power,” he said.
