Telling people they need to save water is a bit like telling black people they’ll become rich by saving money. It’s not going to make a difference, and it’s cruel.

Water is not something you have to use less of. Water is supposed to be in a constant cycle of use and reuse.

Animal feces, urine, and carcasses fertilize the soil. You are not a black hole sucking water out of reality. The water you drink will eventually come back around, one way or another.

The planet is not running out of water. Water is not coming out of the atmosphere to space.

Earth is not a leaking water balloon.

The only real threats to water availability are pollution with toxic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, hormones, plastics, soap, shampoo, and other crap that is expensive to filter out and that can make water unfit for purpose. But you won’t hear Greta or any of these morons pushing for a real conversation about that.

Emma Beddington writes for The Guardian:

I spent much of last year’s boiling hot, dry summer freaking out about drought. Baking days, hosepipe bans, parched plants and suffering wildlife gave me acute day-to-day anxiety and a real fear for the future. This year, I was determined to do something more productive than hand-wringing, so I resolved to cut my water consumption.

Then it rained for much of the summer. The UK had 170% of average rainfall this July, making it the sixth wettest on record. But that doesn’t make my efforts pointless: we still need to save water. Scientists have calculated that the climate crisis makes drought 20 times more likely, so one wet summer only offers short-term respite. The UN predicts that demand for fresh water will exceed supply by 40% by 2030 worldwide. In the UK, Sir James Bevan of the Environment Agency warned in 2019 that, without action, UK water companies would face the “jaws of death” – the point at which demand for water outstrips supply – within 20 years.

Also, saving water reduces your carbon footprint. Treating and transporting is energy-intensive business: approximately 12% of a typical gas-heated home’s energy consumption in the UK goes on heating water. Then there is the bottom line: an increasing number of people now have metered water consumption, so the less you use, the less you pay.

Would water companies tackling leakage – which amounted to more than 1tn litres in England and Wales in 2021, according to Ofwat – have vastly more impact than me dodging showers? Of course. But we can all make a difference. Many tweaks to household habits are easy to implement, plus there are bigger lifestyle changes to consider. This is what happened when I tried them out.

The article literally suggests taking showers with your feet in a bucket as a way to “save water” (she says to reuse the foot water for other purposes).

They even use this image:

These are some of the other recommended techniques:

  • Not emptying the kettle before refilling
  • Reusing cooking water
  • Running dishwashers and washing machines full
  • Reusing ice cubes
  • Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth and adding an attachment to reduce the flow
  • Reducing the number of times you flush the loo and the amount of water used in flushing
  • Fixing leaks
  • Eating soy instead of meat because it allegedly “takes less water to produce”

Besides entirely missing the mark and promoting neurotic behavior, some of the “water saving” tips could be harmful for people’s health. For instance, reboiling water is generally a bad idea, as it increases the dangers posed by various substances found in it, and excessive soy consumption is probably the reason why the Japanese are a nation of gay pedophiles.

People concerned about water and the environment should understand that the problem is not using water, but making water unusable.

Anything that cannot be cheaply filtered out of the water should not be anywhere near water.

Moms are the Real Conspiracy Theorists and a Threat to Democracy, Researchers Reveal https://www.anglinarchive.com/2023/08/13/moms-are-the-real-conspiracy-theorists-and-a-threat-to-democracy-researchers-reveal/ Sun, 13 Aug 2023 00:00:00 +0000

Women are better than men at everything, including leading political movements.

The Guardian:

Researchers who track how the far right in the US mobilizes, self-promotes and recruits are reporting that women are playing a growing role in the movement.

They often work behind the scenes to advance conspiracy theories through social media and softly attract new women into the fold. But at the same time, in recent years “alt-right” women have also shifted to influential public-facing roles in rightwing media production and far-right national politics.

They have taken prominent roles in events like the January 6 attack on the Capitol, count US congresswomen in their number and have seen the emergence of powerful new groups like Moms for Liberty.

“[Far-right women] have a lot more power than you think,” said Dr Sandra Jeppesen, a professor of media and communications at Lakehead University in Ontario, Canada.

Despite their seemingly understated presence in extremist groups and far-right politics, they can be effective organizers, responsible for bringing thousands of people to the Capitol for the January 6 “Stop the Steal” rally and now mobilizing against inclusive education.

…

“I think women definitely want power,” Jeppesen argued. “I don’t think ‘alt-right’ women go into politics for altruistic reasons.”

Like men in the movement, women commit to far-right politics believing there is a crisis and they have to commit to extraordinary action, she stated. In the days leading up to 6 January 2021, Marjorie Taylor Greene, the extremist congresswoman from Georgia, paid tens of thousands of dollars for a promoted Parlor post stating the need for a grassroots army and created a Photoshopped image of her and Donald Trump.

The post, used as an election fundraiser for Greene’s campaign, garnered millions of views and played a strong role in mobilizing people to the Capitol, Jeppesen explained.

Shield maidens are hardcore ride-or-die warriors willing to change their entire face for the cause. When was the last time you saw a man change his face to improve his political reach?

Take for instance Jordan Peterson’s daughter. She looked like this when she was just getting involved in the right wing:

Now she looks like this:

Banning plastic surgeries would deal a devastating blow to these extremists.

While Greene’s social media presence attracted insurrectionists to Washington DC, the far-right election-denial group Women for America First ultimately held the permit for the rally outside the White House, helped to coordinate the march that became the January 6 riot, and eventually organized fundraisers for election audits in Georgia and Arizona in 2021, Vice News reported.

Other female insurrectionists played a pivotal role in the riots and spreading election denial conspiracies during and after.

Jessica Watkins, an Oath Keepers member and founder of the Ohio State Regular Militia, arranged for both militias to travel to the Capitol, organizing and communicating on site with the encrypted walkie-talkie-style app Zello. She was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison; people such as Watkins are considered political prisoners to members of the far-right movement.

When Ashli Babbit was killed by Capitol Hill police during the January 6 attack, she was promoted as a martyr, with even the former US president Donald Trump calling her parents. “Women make better martyrs in the ‘alt-right’,” Jeppesen said about Babbit’s lingering effect.

Another growing power on the far right is Moms for Liberty, a group that began as a small parents’ rights group but which has spread across the US and is a leading force in promoting book bans.

The group – with a fervent membership of conservative mothers – aims to affect US education, attacking anything that meddles with the far-right view of what is suitable for bringing up children, said Llanera of the University of Connecticut. “Mothers protect their offspring, out of the private sphere where they are most relevant,” she added.

Science has already proven that kids have a human right to explore the sensations that stimulating the anus can produce.

Knowledge is power, so being aware of the full extent of what your anus can do for you is empowering.

In order to protect kids from their mothers, experts on right-wing extremism have proposed banning women from gyms and Whole Foods as a solution to the radicalization problem.

Exercising and eating healthy results in the body and mind working better, and that inevitably results in thinking fascist thoughts.

Without high obesity rates, Democracy cannot survive.

“lmao” a Marker for Narcissism, Neuronal Dark Web Magician Dr Jordan B Peterson Affirms https://www.anglinarchive.com/2022/12/11/lmao-a-marker-for-narcissism-neuronal-dark-web-magician-dr-jordan-b-peterson-affirms/ Sun, 11 Dec 2022 00:00:00 +0000

It's a marker for narcissism. Not unerring, but a marker. https://t.co/YpGesifGvA

— Dr Jordan B Peterson (@jordanbpeterson) December 11, 2022

Mastermind Jordan Peterson, a world-renowned Master of the Mind and high-ranking Neuronal Dark Web magician, has answered a very important existential question: why do people have fun?

The question why some people get to have fun while others are miserable is one that has plagued the human consciousness since the dawn of man.

Now, thanks to Peterson’s mastery of the mind, we know the answer.

People have fun because they’re dark-tetrad. In Neuronal Esoterica, the dark tetrad comprises the personality traits of narcissism, Machiavellianism, Sadism and psychopathy. Originally known as dark triad, the term was updated to include Sadism after people made fun of Dr. Peterson for having repeated emotional breakdowns in public.

Peterson, famous for telling men to wash their penises and clean their rooms, spent an undetermined period of time without washing his penis and cleaning his room after his daughter got into social media and started behaving like an absolute whore.

The crisis was so deep that he even considered becoming a drag queen.

During this period, he kept recording videos telling men to man up and enter the belly of the beast.

Anonymous Internet Demon Sadists took to social media to make fun of him and question his expertise on the human psyche. “At least have the decency to point the camera in another direction, Jordan,” one famous anonymous message read.

“You’ve been telling us to keep our rooms clean for decades, so how come you don’t follow your own advice?,” read another.

Unable to answer these anonymous questions, Dr Peterson turned to drugs and ended up being committed to a clinic.

People continued to make fun of his misery, and that’s when he realized that the reason random people on the Internet were having fun and laughing at his situation was that they were Sadistic Narcissists.

There was no other explanation. He has a Master’s Degree on Mind Mastering. He mastered his own mind. He knows what he’s talking about. People having fun on the internet are pathetic, sadistic little demon troll rats. Total vermin. Subhuman rodents.

Following these revelations, Peterson called for the segregation of people who have fun.

People familiar with the matter agree with Dr Peterson’s assessments, and some are petitioning the government to tackle the problem of fun inequality on the internet. The High Order of Neuronal Synapsis is expected to start treating laughter as a symptom of dangerous psychopathy soon, an anonymous source said.

The ADL has already issued a public statement explaining the anti-Semitic origins of “lol” and “lmao,” and international human rights organizations are expected to make a statement in the next few days.

Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla has offered to work with the World Health Organization to vaccinate people against having fun. The Daily Stormer has reached out to the World Health Organization for comments, but we’ve yet to receive an answer.

McDonald’s Shelves Plant-Based Burger After Total Failure, Manufacturer Stock Collapse https://www.anglinarchive.com/2022/09/24/mcdonalds-shelves-plant-based-burger-after-total-failure-manufacturer-stock-collapse/ Sat, 24 Sep 2022 00:00:00 +0000

So, the theory was that people would go to McDonald’s and then buy a non-meat burger because they believe that eating that will stop hurricanes and earthquakes?

That was the thinking?

The Guardian:

At the start of the year, McDonald’s launched a plant-based burger “sizzled on a flat-iron grill, then topped with slivered onions, tangy pickles, crisp shredded lettuce, Roma tomato slices, ketchup, mustard, mayo and a slice of melty American cheese”. For a while, it looked like a glimpse of the future.

The US test run of the McPlant burger was quietly shelved last month (it is still available in some markets, including the UK) in one of a series of setbacks for a meatless-meat industry that only a year ago was claiming it could change the great American menu for ever.

Getting meat eaters in the US to adopt plant-based alternatives has proven a challenge. Beyond Meat, which produces a variety of plant-based products, including imitations of ground beef, burgers, sausages, meatballs and jerky, has had a rough 12 months, with its stock dipping nearly 70%.

Multiple chains that partnered with the company, including McDonald’s, have quietly ended trial launches. In August, the company laid off 4% of its workforce after a slowdown in sales growth. Last week, its chief operating officer was reportedly arrested for biting another man on the nose during a road rage confrontation.

It’s a dramatic reversal of fortune. Just two years ago, Beyond Meat, its competitor Impossible Foods and the plant-based meat industry at large seemed poised to start a food revolution.

After nearly a decade of development, plant-based meat started hitting the mainstream in 2018. Grocery stores started selling Beyond Meat ground beef and sausages, while more restaurants were offering plant-based meat on their menus. Burger King announced the launch of the Impossible Whopper, while other fast-food chains came out with similar launches, like a plant-based breakfast sausage sandwich at Dunkin’ and meatless pepperoni pizza at Pizza Hut.

For a time, Wall Street went vegetarian. In 2019 Beyond Meat was valued at over $10bn (£8.9bn), more than Macy’s or Xerox. The most bullish investors believed that plant-based meat would make up 15% of all meat sales by 2030. But the reality of Americans’ interest in plant-based meat has proven more complicated than investors thought, and the adoption of meat alternatives has been slower than what was once hoped. Today Beyond Meat is valued at just over $900m (£799m).

The sobering story is similar to those experienced by many new ventures that see exhilarating hype after a flood of Silicon Valley venture capital cash, fueled by excitement about innovation. Bill Gates backed Beyond Meat, and a number of venture capital firms that typically invest in tech startups funneled money to startups making plant-based meat. Even the meat industry’s biggest players have, ironically, invested in companies coming up with plant-based meat.

“The bulls in the industry, I think, had a very wild, very optimistic estimate of how big the market could get,” said John Baumgartner, an analyst at Mizuho Securities. “There was a lot of exuberance in this category. It was new, it was different, it was on trend.

“But the consumer environment is tough, and this stuff is not cheap,” he added. “It’s going to take time to change cultural practices. It’s not going to happen overnight.”

The noble cow is the perfect food production machinery. There is no other technology capable of turning grass into meat and milk.

If you observe the body shape of a cow, it becomes obvious that they were designed to be eaten. Their legs are tiny in relation to the rest of their body, and are clearly there just to support their voluptuous, meaty torso.

Trying to come up with ways to imitate meat to avoid using cows is like trying to create artificial wombs and sex robots to avoid the rightful enslavement of women.

It’s against nature.

Maybe this scam would have worked better 10 years ago when people were still trying to claim that “meat is not healthy,” but that entire project was abandoned in full. As far as I’m aware, there is no one other than extremely fringe lunatics claiming that meat is unhealthy – beef in particular is now celebrated by experts as the ideal food, possibly excluding fish.

So you have to get people to accept that they will eat something that is not only less tasty but also less healthy – on the theory that eating it will stop natural disasters.

That’s a big ask.

The media is just going to lie to you.

They will say that you’re doing evil and it’s causing the weather to change.

This is no different than the Aztec priests telling people that if they don’t do human sacrifices, the sun will go black.

Reuters:

After a quiet start to the season, Hurricane Fiona slammed into Puerto Rico and then battered the Dominican Republic, leaving more than 1 million people without running water or power.

By Saturday the storm had hit Canada’s east coast, knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses.

While scientists haven’t yet determined whether climate change influenced Fiona’s strength or behavior, there’s strong evidence that these devastating storms are getting worse.

Here’s why.

IS CLIMATE CHANGE AFFECTING HURRICANES?

Yes, climate change is making hurricanes wetter, windier and altogether more intense. There is also evidence that it is causing storms to travel more slowly, meaning they can dump more water in one place.

If it weren’t for the oceans, the planet would be much hotter due to climate change. But in the last 40 years, the ocean has absorbed about 90% of the warming caused by heat-trapping greenhouse gas emissions. Much of this ocean heat is contained near the water’s surface. This additional heat can fuel a storm’s intensity and power stronger winds.

Climate change can also boost the amount of rainfall delivered by a storm. Because a warmer atmosphere can also hold more moisture, water vapor builds up until clouds break, sending down heavy rain.

During the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season — one of the most active on record — climate change boosted hourly rainfall rates in hurricane-force storms by 8%-11%, according to an April 2022 study in the journal Nature Communications.

The world has already warmed 1.1 degrees Celsius above the preindustrial average. Scientists at the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) expect that, at 2C of warming, hurricane wind speeds could increase by up to 10%.

NOAA also projects the proportion of hurricanes that reach the most intense levels — Category 4 or 5 — could rise by about 10% this century. To date, less than a fifth of storms have reached this intensity since 1851.

HOW ELSE IS CLIMATE CHANGE AFFECTING STORMS?

The typical “season” for hurricanes is shifting, as climate warming creates conditions conducive to storms in more months of the year. And hurricanes are also making landfall in regions far outside the historic norm.

…

It’s unclear, however, if climate change is affecting the number of hurricanes that form each year. One team of scientists recently reported detecting a rise in frequency for North Atlantic hurricanes over the last 150 years, according to their study published in December in Nature Communications. But research is still ongoing.

Saying people are changing the climate by driving cars and flying on planes is like blaming ice cream for sunburns.

“Oh, but how do you explain that every time we have ice cream, we just so happen to end up with a sunburn!?”

Saving the planet from a Climate Change Apocalypse is such a very real necessity that Greta Thunberg is willing to allocate one full day a week for it. Do you know of any other thing so important that a teenager would sacrifice her Fridays?

Men used to ban women from enjoying their bodies, but then women had enough, invented contraceptives and abortion, and did the sexual revolution.

Now kids are saying enough too, and following the steps of the brave women of yore.

Why sell lemonade for a couple of bucks when you can dress as a woman and perform for adult men for big bucks?

The alliance between women and kids is growing stronger by the day. No matter how much all of you bigots complain, kids are seizing what’s rightfully theirs: the power to decide what to do with their own bodies.

[Insert ironic nihilism joke here.]

Reuters:

The University of Pennsylvania has nominated transgender swimmer Lia Thomas for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award, the American college sports regulating body said.

Thomas shot to fame earlier this year when she became the first transgender NCAA champion in Division I history after winning the women’s 500-yard freestyle in March and she had hoped to compete for a place at the Olympics.

But soon after, she became the focus of a raging debate when swimming’s world governing body FINA voted last month to restrict the participation of transgender athletes in elite women’s competitions.

Thomas competed on Pennsylvania’s men’s team for three years before transitioning and moving to the women’s team, setting multiple programme records.

…

The winner will be named at the NCAA Convention in January in San Antonio.

Trannies are alpha.

Men with high-pitched voices like Steven Crowder are unable to see the brilliance in trannies showing the world that men are better than women at literally everything.

When was the last time you put a woman in her place, Crowder?

Trannies are humiliating women everywhere on a daily basis.

Lia Thomas used to be a random man, but now he’s the best female swimmer who ever lived.

This proves that men are biologically supreme.

Women need to shut up and take their licks.

The age of the biological front hole is over.

Abortion Ban May Force Women Out of College, Media Says https://www.anglinarchive.com/2022/07/11/abortion-ban-may-force-women-out-of-college-media-says/ Mon, 11 Jul 2022 00:00:00 +0000

Where will they go, if not to college?

Reuters:

With its excellent academic and music programs, Oberlin College in Ohio seemed like a perfect fit for Nina Huang, a California high school student who plays flute and piano and hopes to eventually study medicine or law.

But Huang, 16, said she crossed the college off her application list after Ohio enacted a near-total ban on abortion last month. She now plans to cast a wider net for schools in states with less restrictive laws.

“I don’t want to go to school in a state where there is an abortion ban,” she said.

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in June to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade case that legalized abortion nationwide has some students rethinking their higher education plans as states rush to ban or curtail abortion, according to interviews with 20 students and college advisers across the country.

While it has long been the case that some students hesitated to attend schools in places with different political leanings than their own, recent moves by conservative states on issues such as abortion and LGBTQ+ rights have deepened the country’s polarization.

For some students, the restrictions raise fears that they won’t be able to get an abortion if they need one or that they will face discrimination for gender differences. Others said they worried about facing racial prejudice or being politically ostracized.

“I’m only in high school right now, and I’m still finding out who I am,” said Samira Murad, 17, who will be a senior this fall at Stuyvesant High School in New York. “I don’t want to move somewhere I can’t be myself because of laws put in place.”

What if you finally find out who you are, and who you are is a baby killer, and you can’t kill babies?!

Why can’t America let people be who they really are?!

It is too soon to determine whether such concerns will affect admissions in a measurable way, and evidence from other recent divisive state laws suggests there may be little overall impact.

But in the wake of Roe’s overturn, college counselors said abortion has figured prominently in many conversations with clients, with some going as far as nixing their dream schools.

“Some of our students have explicitly stated that they will not apply to colleges and universities in states which may infringe on their access to reproductive rights,” said Daniel Santos, chief executive of the Florida college counseling company Prepory.

Kristen Willmott, a counselor with Top Tier Admissions in Massachusetts, said students she works with have told her they are taking some top schools in Texas, Florida and Tennessee off their application lists due to their restrictive abortion laws.

Alexis Prisco, who is entering her senior year at Eastern Technical High School in Maryland, had planned to apply to her parents’ alma mater, Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

She feels wary, however, after the state enacted a law effectively banning abortion.

“Now my mom has warned me that I need to be very careful when applying to schools in states with trigger laws,” said Prisco, 17, referring to bans designed to take effect once the Supreme Court overturned Roe.

…

For Maryland high school student Sabrina Thaler, however, the prospect of attending college in a state that bans abortion is unsettling.

Thaler, 16, recalled the question she posed to her high school class during a discussion in May after the decision that ultimately overturned Roe v. Wade was leaked.

“What if I go to a college in a state where abortion is banned and I get raped and then I don’t have the option to have an abortion?“

Men don’t know. But by the time a woman graduates from college, she’s had 3-4 abortions.

WHO Says Coronavirus Can Cause Mental Health Issues, Affect All Body Parts in “Long COVID” Hoax https://www.anglinarchive.com/2022/07/11/who-says-coronavirus-can-cause-mental-health-issues-affect-all-body-parts-in-long-covid-hoax/ Mon, 11 Jul 2022 00:00:00 +0000

Post #COVID19 condition or #LongCovid is real and affects many parts of the body. The best way to protect yourself is to prevent infections and get vaccinated. Dr @mvankerkhove & @DrAbdiMahamud explain what we know about it ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/YrM1VAsQaA

— World Health Organization (WHO) (@WHO) July 11, 2022

The WHO published a video this week saying anything out of the ordinary that you feel in your body could be somehow caused by the mythical coronavirus.

Maria Van Kerkhove, WHO epidemiologist, said:

We still don’t have a great understanding of post-COVID-19 condition or long COVID, so we’re working with clinicians to better understand this.

We understand that long COVID affects many parts of the body. It affects the brain, it affects the heart, it affects the lungs, it affects the muscle systems and mental health issues, and so it’s quite complex.

There are some estimates that it’s anywhere from 1-3 in every 10 infections, and we’ve had billions of infections. And even a “mild case” of COVID-19 could lead to long COVID. So, we’re working with patient groups. We’re working with clinicians. We’re working with mental health specialists, we’re working with brain health and cardiac, pulmonologists, pediatricians as well because children can also suffer from post-COVID condition.

The questions that we have are about the longevity of this. One, how many people are dealing with, suffering from long COVID? And how long will this last? Because this is real. A lot of people that have long COVID have been denied, saying it is in your head, it’s not real. Long COVID is real. Long COVID is affecting millions of people, so we’re setting up studies in countries to be able to track individuals over time, to have proper research done, so that we can have, accordingly, the right types of rehab. So, there’s a lot that is out there.

Oh, no! Now we need Pfizer to develop the right types of rehab and a way to test who has this very vague and mysterious condition, so that they can access the treatment. The virus hysteria is the hoax that keeps on hoaxing, indefinitely, forever.

It’s easy to keep it rolling. Just say that there’s a weird, vague something happening to some people, and that you’re working to figure it out, and let the paranoia the media induced on people do the rest.

They also brought back the “build back better” slogan:

People have a short attention span and the Ukraine thing is no longer entertaining.

It looks like it’s time to switch things up a bit.

BBC Removes Lesson About Alternatives to Abortion from Website After Backlash from “Experts” https://www.anglinarchive.com/2022/07/10/bbc-removes-lesson-about-alternatives-to-abortion-from-website-after-backlash-from-experts/ Sun, 10 Jul 2022 00:00:00 +0000

The BBC Bitesize diagram entitled ‘Alternatives to Abortion’.

The Science says human beings are only alive after they exit the body of a woman, except in cases when they exit the body of a woman in the context of an abortion.

The Guardian:

A lesson on the BBC’s website promoting the views of an anti-abortion group has been removed by the broadcaster this weekend, following a backlash from health experts.

The religious studies revision guide, on BBC Bitesize, the broadcaster’s educational resource, listed “powerful arguments” against abortion, used the term “pro-life” rather than “anti-abortion” and featured a page devoted to a vocal campaign group that wants abortion in Britain to be banned.

The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) has a history of promoting misinformation in schools and was exposed in 2019 for launching a Toy Story-themed campaign aimed at children that falsely claimed foetuses can feel pain 10 weeks after conception.

What does it matter if babies in the womb feel pain or not?

These are week 11 and week 12 scans:

Feeling pain or not doesn’t change the fact that it is literally a human being who looks like a human being. Is murder suddenly not murder if murderers anesthetize their victims first?

The broadcaster said it is now reviewing the material in its religious studies guide, which covers Catholics’ views on life and death and is aimed at GCSE students aged 15 and 16.

SPUC has also repeatedly promoted a procedure known as abortion “reversal” on its website, which medical organisations have condemned as unproven and potentially dangerous. And last week it celebrated the decision in the US to overturn Roe v Wade – the supreme court ruling that protected women’s right to abortion across the country – as “a monumental day for justice [and the] unborn”.

Despite its track record, the group was described uncritically on BBC Bitesize as a “pro-life” charity that “advocates for the rights of unborn children”, promotes “the sanctity of human life” and “supports individuals and families through pregnancy”. No pro-choice organisations were mentioned.

Critics said the material, part of a BBC Bitesize resource based on the WJEC exam board syllabus, failed to clearly distinguish between fact and opinion and risked exposing children to “harmful” misinformation.

Lisa Hallgarten, head of policy at Brook, the national sexual health charity, described the learning materials as “shocking” and “problematic in many ways”. . “Pointing to an organisation that is very unreliable when it comes to factual information is problematic because you’re giving them credibility,” she said. “This isn’t abstract for young people; this is real life. We have to really avoid sending people to organisations that are going to be unhelpful to them.”

If they really care about “factual information,” they’d be showing women pictures of what a real abortion looks like.

As well as featuring SPUC, the BBC Bitesize resource listed “powerful arguments” against abortion, including that it “denies choice to the unborn child” and makes human life appear “cheap and disposable”.

In another section, a diagram entitled Alternatives to Abortion suggested sexual abstinence and natural family planning as solutions for avoiding unwanted pregnancies, and “financial support” as alternatives to having a termination, but did not mention contraception.

The British Pregnancy Advisory Service, an abortion provider, raised concerns about information provided to teenagers on alternatives to abortion and said it was “absurd” that the diagram suggested abstinence and natural family planning but did not mention contraception.

It is absurd to suggest teenagers could realistically be expected not to have sex, which is why we have to stop them from marrying and forming families, and instead encourage them to dismember their offspring.

Experts agree this is how you run a successful civilization.
